On August 5, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai reported "Proposing a list of projects to build boarding schools for ethnic minorities at primary and secondary levels in the province's land border communes".
In the immediate future, Quang Ngai needs 775 billion to build 5 schools on the border.
Through review, Quang Ngai province after the merger has 9 border communes, including: Bo Y, Ia Toi, Dak Plo, Mo Rai, Duc Nong, Sa Loong, Dak Long, Ro Koi and Ia Dal with rugged terrain, difficult traffic, sparse population, mainly ethnic minorities Xo Dang, Ba Na, Gie Trieng... living.
In fact, the school system in border communes is still lacking and degraded, especially boarding facilities for ethnic minority students.
In many places, students have to walk for hours to get to school, while living and learning conditions are still lacking.
Faced with that situation, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province has proposed to the Central Government 775 billion VND to immediately build 5 schools that can start construction in 2025 and be put into use in August 2026.
Specifically, the Boarding School of Duc Nong Commune, built on an area of 4.6 hectares in the new commune center planning area. The total investment is more than 207 billion VND, with full items and equipment meeting level 2 infrastructure standards.
The Mo Rai Inter-level Boarding School, built in the planned area for the construction of the center of Mo Rai commune, Quang Ngai province, covers an area of 5 hectares. With a total investment of nearly 176 billion VND, Quang Ngai will build synchronously and fully all items to meet the criteria for teaching and resting for students and teachers.
The three schools, if constructed, will be completed and put into use before August 30, 2027, but are currently stuck with land funds (the land funds do not meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Training, or the land use planning has not been adjusted).
However, due to the urgent need for schools for students in border areas, Quang Ngai province still proposed to renovate, upgrade, and expand..., including the Ro Koi Commune Inter-level Boarding School, built on an area of 1.8 hectares, with a total investment of 170 billion VND.
Ia Dal Commune Primary and Secondary Boarding School was built on an area of 6 hectares, with a total investment of 150 billion VND; Sa Loong Commune Primary and Secondary Boarding School was renovated, upgraded, and expanded on an area of about 3 hectares, with a total investment of 70 billion VND.

Continue to propose the remaining schools in the next phase.
For the remaining four land border communes, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province said it will propose to the Central Government in the next phase.
The education sector of Quang Ngai province is making efforts to concretize the direction of the Politburo and the Government's campaign on building schools and boarding houses for students and teachers in border communes across the country in 2025.
The Provincial People's Committee is assigning relevant departments and branches to coordinate with local authorities to develop a specific implementation plan and roadmap.
Investing in the school system not only creates better learning conditions for students in mountainous areas, but also contributes to retaining residents, ensuring border security, and gradually narrowing the development gap between regions in the province.

In addition, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai has made recommendations and proposals to the Ministry of Education and Training to reconsider the criteria on land area (5-10 hectares), because the area proposed by the Ministry is difficult to implement for schools in border areas.
At the same time, the Ministry of Education and Training coordinates with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to direct and guide the Department of Agriculture and Environment and border communes to urgently arrange land funds to build schools; coordinate with the Ministry of Construction to design models for border schools...
