My Yen Interchange (old Long An , now in Tay Ninh province) is a strategic connection point between three key traffic axes including Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway, Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway and Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3.
The project has a total investment of more than 115,000 billion VND, implemented from 2022 to strengthen regional connectivity, shorten travel time between the Western provinces, Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast region.
According to VTC News reporters in mid-July, the branch lines and overpasses at the intersection have completed the construction of the bridge deck. At the construction site, construction units are urgently paving the road surface, painting lines, installing signs and railings, in order to soon put the project into operation, serving inter-regional traffic connections.
The connecting section between Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Expressway and Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway (from Km0+000 to Km3+420) has been temporarily opened to traffic since April 28. However, this route currently only allows one-way traffic, applicable to cars and trucks with a load capacity of 10 tons or less, because the intersection with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 is still under completion.
Many items at My Yen intersection are being urgently constructed with the spirit of racing for progress. Construction units maintain many simultaneous deployments, taking advantage of favorable weather, and at the same time closely following the schedule for each milestone to ensure the project is completed and put into operation on schedule.
Despite the hot weather, many groups of workers are still working hard on construction items such as installing formwork, tying steel, and completing the protective railings on the edge of the bridge. Below, the road surface is carefully compacted, preparing for the gravel and asphalt grading stage, creating a solid foundation for the completion of the entire connecting route in the near future.
The Long An Construction Investment Project Management Board (under Tay Ninh province) said that by July, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 section passing through the province had reached 78.01% of the construction contract value. The project is currently being accelerated, striving to complete and open to traffic before October this year.
The project is divided into several packages, of which three main packages are being implemented, including XL1, XL2 and XL3. For package XL1 alone, the highway has completed most of the foundation, finished grading crushed stone and is currently paving the road surface.
At the bridge project across Tan Buu River on Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 through Tay Ninh province, contractors are speeding up construction, mobilizing human resources and equipment to work continuously to ensure progress and complete the technical traffic opening target by next October.
Package XL2, including the river bridge and parallel road, has completed 36 bridge piers, completed 30/35 spans and is continuing to pour concrete for the bridge deck to ensure the overall progress of the project.
The XL3 package at the intersection with Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway has now reached nearly 80% of the construction volume. Important items such as the overpass, branch H and branch A1 have basically completed the foundation, preparing to enter the next construction phase. In addition, the additional packages including XL3A, XL4B, XL5, XL6A and XL6B are also being implemented on schedule.
In particular, the XL3A package, with the task of completing the intersection, has been adjusted to shorten the construction time by 3 months. According to the new plan, this package will be completed before May 2026, contributing to speeding up the overall progress of the entire project.
The total investment for the two component projects through Tay Ninh province is VND4,208 billion, of which 75% is allocated from the central budget. Up to now, the project has disbursed VND1,436 billion, reaching more than 63% of the total capital. The capital plan for 2023 and 2024 alone has been 100% completed, while the disbursement rate for 2025 so far has only reached about 18%.
The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 Project is a national key traffic project, with a total length of more than 76 km, passing through Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh. The section passing through Tay Ninh province is 6.84 km long, designed according to expressway standards with a complete scale of 8 lanes, a design speed of 100 km/h and parallel roads arranged on both sides, meeting the needs of inter-regional traffic in the future.
When completed, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 combined with the two expressways Ben Luc - Long Thanh and Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong will form a complete traffic axis surrounding Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to limiting the number of vehicles circulating in the center, reducing pressure on the inner city area. The project not only shortens travel time, reduces logistics costs but also creates close regional connections, promoting socio-economic development in the Southeast region and the Southern key economic zone.
