With the recently introduced 6th generation, Toyota continues to strengthen the position of RAV4 with a series of strong improvements, including sharper design, more modern technology and especially a complete switch to an electrified powertrain. Accordingly, Toyota divides the new RAV4 versions into three main styles: Core (for general users), Sport (prioritizing sports ) and Rugged (aimed at those who love to explore and off-road). In addition, the Woodland version with a strong off-road character and the GR Sport with the typical sporty style of Gazoo Racing are two new highlights, expanding the potential customer base.
Instead of being developed on a completely new platform, the 2026 Toyota RAV4 continues to be developed on the TNGA-K chassis but is upgraded by Toyota with a reinforced chassis, stronger connection points, improved suspension and soundproofing. In particular, the GR Sport version is specially tuned by Gazoo Racing, promising to bring a different driving experience. The overall dimensions of the Toyota RAV4 2026 have not changed significantly, the length ranges from 4,595 - 4,618 mm, the wheelbase remains the same at 2,690 mm. However, the height is slightly raised, helping to increase ground clearance and improve visibility. In terms of appearance, the new generation RAV4 still retains its characteristic shape but increases modern and sporty elements. Sharper LED headlights, a body-colored grille, and larger front air intakes give the car a more aggressive look. Toyota also adds a range of new paint colors: Meteor Shower, Everest, Storm Cloud, along with more personal two-tone color options, including Supersonic Red for the GR Sport and Urban Rock for the Woodland.
The cabin of the 2026 RAV4 is redesigned in a modern, minimalist direction but still emphasizes practicality. The car is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital clock cluster, combined with a central entertainment screen with two options of 10.5 inches or 12.9 inches depending on the version. A notable new feature is the Toyota Arena software interface, which first appeared on the RAV4. This is a "software-defined vehicle" platform, helping the infotainment system and safety features operate smoothly and can be updated remotely. The new RAV4 is also one of the first models to feature the Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 safety package, with the company's most advanced driver assistance features. Despite the reduction in physical controls, Toyota still ensures an easy-to-use experience with a digital climate control system that is always displayed directly on the screen. The center console has also been redesigned, incorporating a shift-by-wire switch on some versions, along with two cupholders and a spacious storage compartment. Depending on the configuration, the interior can be upholstered in fabric, SofTex or perforated Ultrasuede, with higher-end versions getting GR logos, aluminum pedals and a nine-speaker JBL sound system.
The new generation Toyota RAV4 marks a major turning point when it completely eliminates traditional gasoline engines, switching to hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options. The RAV4 Hybrid version is a combination of a 2.5L I4 engine with an electric motor for 226 horsepower (FWD) and 236 horsepower (AWD). The RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) is significantly more powerful with 320 horsepower, standard AWD, pure electric range of up to 80 km and especially supports DC fast charging via CCS port, allowing charging from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes. Toyota confirmed that the new generation RAV4 will be sold in the US in late 2025. Specific prices will be announced closer to the launch date. However, with comprehensive changes in design, technology, operation and especially electrification strategy, RAV4 2026 is expected to continue to hold the throne in the global urban SUV segment.
