Can Gio lights up with fireworks at the Whale Festival 2025

(Dan Tri) - On the evening of October 6, thousands of people flocked to the 2025 Can Gio Whale Festival (Can Gio commune, Ho Chi Minh City) to watch fireworks and cheer in the colorful lights of the fireworks celebrating the festival.

At around 9:15 p.m., fireworks lit up the Can Thanh Park area, lighting up the entire sea area amid the continuous applause and cheers of locals and tourists.

On the evening of October 6, thousands of people and tourists flocked to Can Gio commune (HCMC) to admire the artistic fireworks display within the framework of the Nghinh Ong Festival 2025, making the atmosphere here become vibrant and brilliant.

From early evening, Can Thanh Park was packed with people, all eagerly awaiting the activities of the Can Gio Whale Festival.

Many families and groups of young people have prepared mats, carpets and snacks, finding ideal locations to enjoy fireworks while immersing themselves in the vibrant cultural atmosphere.

Before that, the art program "Nghinh Ong Can Gio - Full Moon Festival Night" took place vibrantly, realistically recreating the life of fishermen at sea, expressing deep gratitude to Whale - the guardian deity of seafarers, and spreading joy for a new fishing season. Dance, singing and musical performances imbued with the identity of the sea created a sacred yet intimate atmosphere.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, a fisherman in Can Gio commune, was moved: "Every year my family comes here to attend the ceremony. Tonight there is a full moon, fireworks, and prayers for peace for the new sea season. It is truly sacred."

Many international tourists also joined the local crowd, expressing their impression of the warmth and friendliness of Can Gio people and the festival atmosphere imbued with the identity of Vietnamese maritime culture.

"I am very happy to participate in Vietnam's traditional festival. This is the second time I have come to Can Gio, the people here are very friendly and hospitable", Mr. Michael Wood (70 years old, Australia) shared.

Many other activities such as street circus performances, amateur music, martial arts and seafood food festivals attract a large number of tourists.

Along the sea dike, people sat tightly, eagerly waiting for the music program and fireworks display.

Can Gio Whale Festival is not only a cultural and religious activity but also an opportunity to connect the community, demonstrating the sea-oriented spirit and love for the profession of Can Gio people.

Can Gio beach becomes brilliant with artistic fireworks, creating a festive space full of identity.

Under the beach, hundreds of shimmering lanterns drift on the waves, reflecting the fireworks, creating a rare magical picture.

This morning (October 7), the main ceremony of the Festival - Whale Welcome Ceremony on the sea and welcoming the Whale Welcome group to the Water General's Mausoleum will continue to take place from 9am at Tac Xuat Ferry and Co Khi Ferry.
