In every household, the TV is often the oldest electronic device, rarely upgraded compared to smartphones or tablets. However, the rapid development of digital content, online platforms and other forms of entertainment has significantly changed the role of the TV.

Instead of just watching traditional TV, users today have more diverse needs such as watching movies online, playing games, controlling smart home devices... Therefore, upgrading TV not only improves display quality, but also expands the overall experience.

When choosing a new TV, users may have difficulty comparing specifications and features between different models. Here are some factors to consider when choosing a new TV.

Display panel technology

The panel is one of the important factors that affect the display capability and image quality of the TV.

On today's high-end TV lines, OLED is still considered the technology that provides optimal display capabilities for home TVs. Unlike older technologies, OLED has the ability to emit light according to each independent pixel. This design creates deep blacks, more detailed and accurate images.

OLED also brings HDR to the table. If you often find yourself struggling with dark scenes in movies but your TV is too bright, OLED can help.

That said, OLED TVs may not be as bright as high-end QLED or Mini LED models, especially if you’re watching in a brightly lit room. OLED TVs’ durability is also a subject of debate, as the nature of the technology means that burn-in is inevitable if a static image is left on for long periods of time, although manufacturers have features to help reduce this.

Meanwhile, Mini LED is an attempt to make LCD more competitive with OLED. In theory, LCD uses LED backlights, divided into dimming zones. Mini LED is still based on LCD but significantly increases the number of backlight zones, increasing the ability to dim and display black.

Many people are choosing Mini LED TVs instead of spending a lot of money on OLED. For example, the TCL C8K series uses a Mini LED panel with 3,840 local dimming zones. This ensures high brightness, deep blacks, and accurate colors when enjoying entertainment content, providing a premium viewing experience.

If you play games, don't ignore the refresh rate.

Nowadays, people not only use TVs to watch movies, but also to play games through consoles. On TVs, refresh rate refers to the number of times the screen can draw a new image in one second.

Most TVs today have a refresh rate of 60 Hz, which means they can display 60 images per second. Many models have a higher refresh rate (120 Hz).

In recent years, some manufacturers have even equipped 144 Hz refresh rates, such as TCL with the C8K series. The 144 Hz refresh rate ensures a smooth gaming experience, especially with games that require high speed and quick response.

The product also supports VRR Game Accelerator, increasing the refresh rate to 288 Hz when connecting a compatible device. In addition, the Gamebar feature also enhances the gaming experience with auxiliary modes such as Aiming Aid or Magnifier.

Do TV speakers need a brand?

A great picture isn't enough if the sound technology can't keep up. Many ultra-thin TVs don't have very powerful speaker systems, forcing many people to invest in a soundbar.

Most manufacturers now partner with a major speaker brand to integrate into their high-end TV models. On the C8K model, TCL uses a speaker system from Bang & Olufsen (B&O). The Beosonic feature supports mood-based sound adjustment, helping to increase personalization and enhance the listening experience.

With its large size, the C8K model also integrates a 6.2.2-channel sound system, with 2 rear-facing subwoofers, 2 upward-facing drivers to handle Dolby Atmos effects, and 6 drivers for the center, left and right channels.

In addition to hardware, C8K still supports familiar technologies such as Dolby Atmos or DTS Virtual:X, providing realistic surround sound effects that spread throughout the entertainment space in the home.

AI audio and video enhancement

In recent years, AI has become an indispensable element in mid-range to high-end TVs. Manufacturers use processing chips and AI to provide solutions to increase resolution (upscale), helping lower-standard content to be displayed well on high-resolution TVs (4K or 8K).

On the C8K model, TCL has introduced four main areas of AI processing: picture quality, sound quality, interaction and content creation. The TSR processor uses TCL's exclusive fine-tuning algorithms, allowing for image optimization. Combined with the AI model, TSR AiPQ delivers vivid colors, clear depth and natural clarity, reproducing true-to-life images.

In addition, with the AI Art feature, the C8K also becomes a living picture frame with works of art created by AI.

TCL C8K runs Google TV operating system, allowing access to a huge app store from Google Play. Users can give voice commands via Google Assistant, control the TV with a smartphone via the TCL Home application. Google Assistant also allows voice control of the TV.

Sleek slim bezel design

Modern TVs not only need to look good when watching movies, but also need to be luxurious and sophisticated when turned off, because it is the highlight of the family living room. With a thickness of 51 mm thanks to the monolithic back panel, the C8K transforms the house into a more sophisticated space when hung on the wall.

Continuity is maintained with the rear-facing cable routing system. This feature ensures a neat and elegant look, especially when mounting the TV on the wall or placing the TV in an area with many devices.

On the front, the TCL C8K has an ultra-thin screen border. Users can barely see the black space between the panel and the TV frame. The product's silver finish adds a touch of luxury.
