Novak Djokovic, world number one Jannik Sinner and Roland Garros champion Carlos Alcaraz have all confirmed that they will not participate in the ATP Masters 1000 Canadian Open taking place from July 27 to August 7 in Canada.
After a long summer with a series of clay tournaments and especially the two Grand Slams Roland Garros and Wimbledon, the top players are somewhat physically exhausted and need more time to recover.

After winning Wimbledon 2025, Jannik Sinner needs time to recover from an elbow injury. Wimbledon 2025 runner-up Carlos Alcaraz has a muscle problem and wants a week off to recover his fitness.
Novak Djokovic is working hard to completely treat his groin injury in preparation for the 2025 US Open taking place in the US from August 24 to September 7. The Serbian star tried his best in all three Grand Slam tournaments this year: Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, but he stopped in the semi-finals.
Nole officially made history with 900 weeks in the ATP Top 10, becoming the third tennis player to surpass the 900 mark after Roger Federer (968 weeks) and Rafael Nadal (912 weeks). Djokovic currently holds the record of 428 weeks as world number one.
2025 will see Djokovic in steady form, winning his 100th ATP title at the 2025 Geneva Open, reaching 100 wins at Wimbledon and Roland Garros. The 1987-born star is still hoping to win his 25th Grand Slam at the 2025 US Open.
World No. 5 Jack Draper's decision to not participate in the 2025 Canadian Open has further weakened the tournament's appeal. Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz are considered the favorites to win the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Canada this year.
