In order to increase the capacity of loading, unloading, lifting and receiving containers, exploiting large-capacity ships, meeting the increasing demand for import and export of goods of customers, Chu Lai port has invested in 03 eRTG semi-automatic frame cranes, expected to be put into operation from mid-March 2024.
eRTG cranes are manufactured and installed by THACO INDUSTRIES Group. These are the types of cranes used at large ports, powered by electricity instead of diesel. The crane has a span of 23.47m, the maximum lifting capacity under the crane frame is up to 40 tons with a lifting distance of 13m. The crane is designed with a width equivalent to 6 rows of 40-foot containers and a lane for trucks (6+1). The crane uses the DGPS system to automatically drive and automatically locate containers on the yard.
Along with the eRTG crane system, Chu Lai port has invested in a system of 2 STS cranes capable of loading and unloading containers with a capacity of 40 tons, a reach of 40m (from the crane to the ship), suitable for 50,000 DWT cargo ships. It is expected that by the second quarter of 2024, the entire specialized crane system at Chu Lai port, along with the camera surveillance system, synchronous data processing connection on computers... will be completed and put into operation.
Putting the eRTG crane system into operation helps increase lifting capacity 3 times compared to the present, meeting customer service requirements, aiming at the goal of developing Chu Lai port into a specialized container port, an international cargo transit gateway in the Central region.
