Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee has just decided to approve Vietnam National Shipping Lines as the investor of Ninh Giang Inland Waterway Port Project.
The port's operating scale is 3 million tons of cargo/year. The total expected investment capital is more than 1,496 billion VND (of which more than 448.9 billion VND is the investor's own capital and nearly 1,048 billion VND is borrowed capital). The project's operating period is 50 years, from the date the Provincial People's Committee approves the investment policy and simultaneously approves the investor to implement the project (October 2024).
The project will be implemented in 2 phases. Phase 1 includes the following items: hydraulic works, logistics area outside the dike, technical infrastructure area, and other items; construction is expected to be completed and the area outside the dike put into operation in the first quarter of 2027.
Phase 2 includes items: warehouse area, office, technical infrastructure, other construction items; the entire project is expected to be put into operation in the area in the fourth quarter of 2028.
The Ninh Giang Inland Water Port Project covers an area of over 27 hectares in Hong Phuc and Kien Quoc communes. Of which, 16.45 hectares are inside the dike and 10.62 hectares are outside the dike. The Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee requires investors to fully comply with regulations on investment, land, environment, tax, dikes, natural disaster prevention, waterway traffic, fire prevention and fighting and related legal regulations during the project implementation process. Investors must also be subject to inspection and supervision by competent state agencies.
Once completed and put into operation, Ninh Giang inland waterway port will become a traffic, logistics and multimodal transport hub to serve the needs of transport, loading, storage, and distribution of goods in the region. The project contributes to attracting investors to industrial parks, industrial clusters, and socio -economic development of Ninh Giang in particular and Hai Duong in general.
According to the Hai Duong Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the national inland waterway infrastructure will be developed according to the Inland Waterway Infrastructure Planning approved by the Prime Minister. In the approved provincial planning, there are 2 national inland waterway routes running through Hai Duong: Quang Ninh - Hai Phong - Viet Tri route and Quang Ninh - Ninh Binh route.
At the same time, inland waterway port clusters are also developed, including: Kinh Thay - Kinh Mon - Han River port cluster with 30 ports, Thai Binh River port cluster with 4 ports and Luoc River port cluster, including Ninh Giang inland port.
For local inland waterways, six locally managed waterways will be developed.
In addition, 17 existing inland waterway ports will be upgraded and integrated into the national inland waterway system, along with the development of 12 new inland waterway ports on central rivers. Inland waterway ports on rivers will be developed in accordance with local socio-economic conditions.
