(NADS) - The Southern Hydrometeorological Station has just issued a warning bulletin about high tides in the downstream areas of rivers in the South.
Accordingly, on the morning of October 29, the highest tide peak actually measured at My Thuan station was 1.70m, alarm level II, at Can Tho station it was 1.75m, 0.05m below alarm level.
In the coming days, the highest tide peak at most stations will occur from November 2 to 4 (October 2 to 4 of the lunar calendar). At My Thuan station, it will reach about 1.90-1.95m at a level 0.10-0.15m above BĐIII; Can Tho station will reach 1.95-2.00m at a level approximately or 0.05m below BĐIII. The level of natural disaster risk in the downstream areas of Tien and Hau rivers is at level 2.
During the high tide in mid-October 2024, a series of low-lying areas in Can Tho City, Vinh Long, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu and Hau Giang were severely flooded. Therefore, localities need to have proactive plans to respond to the high tide in early November 2024.
