In the trend of digital technology that is growing strongly and bringing many convenient experiences to customers, there are also constantly appearing fraudulent tricks via social networks, online channels, via phone, email... to steal customers' accounts and card information.
- Forged signature stamp of bank management
- The subject approaches customers by impersonating bank employees, posting advertisements for loans/credit card openings on unofficial social networking sites of the bank.
- To create trust, the subject sent fake documents with red stamps and signatures of the bank's Board of Directors asking customers to deposit money into accounts to support verification, loan approval, bad debt deletion, etc.
- After the customer transfers money into the customer's account, the subjects continue to lead the customer to provide the OTP code with the scenario that this is the online authentication code, the code to receive the interest rate reduction program, the code to synchronize data to the system before issuing or increasing the card limit... to appropriate the balance in the customer's account.
- Email spoofing and promotions
- The subject uses emails similar to those sent by MB to customers to notify them of account statements, installment promotions, card opening programs, MB account opening programs... and promotions for early payment and prepayment.
- Then approach and instruct customers to click on fake links, provide card information or account information, App login username and password, OTP code to take over the account and card limit.
- The subject uses the information provided by the customer to purchase high-value and highly liquid goods and services. When the customer discovers the information, the transaction amount has been successfully paid.
- Customers should note the following information to avoid:
- Check information before accessing the link : Always check and verify that you are accessing the bank's official website.
- The bank recommends that if customers suspect a fake notification or email , they should absolutely not follow the instructions in the email such as clicking on the link or entering the OTP code to avoid losing money. At the same time, they should absolutely not provide personal information to anyone, including those claiming to be investigators, bank employees, etc.
- Official websites of banks registered with competent authorities in Vietnam are often registered with domain names (.vn) or (.com.vn), websites registered with similar names but with different extensions such as (.vip), (.top), (.cc), (.com) ... may be fake. According to verification from banks, these are all fake messages and links aimed at appropriating account information and assets of users.
