Coast Guard accompanies fishermen and ethnic and religious people

QTO - On August 14 and 15, in Con Tien commune, Cua Tung, Quang Tri province, the Command of Coast Guard Region 2 coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department to organize the program "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen", the mass mobilization work "Coast Guard with ethnic and religious people" in Quang Tri province. Attending were Colonel Le Huy, Political Commissar of the Command of Coast Guard Region 2; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department and related localities.

At the program, the Command of Coast Guard Region 2 disseminated the mass mobilization work of the political system, ethnic and religious work, associated with the emulation movement "Skillful mass mobilization" and the political tasks of localities and units; about the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard, the sovereignty and security of the sea and islands of the Fatherland; about the functions and tasks of the Coast Guard force in general, the Command of Coast Guard Region 2 in particular in performing the task of enforcing the law at sea and protecting the sovereignty and security of the sea and islands of the Fatherland; basic contents on preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing for fishermen; implementing a peak period of preventing and combating crimes, human trafficking; combating smuggling and trade fraud in the area.

Colonel Le Huy, Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, said that this is an activity contributing to propaganda and dissemination to raise awareness among fishermen, ethnic and religious people about the law on seafood exploitation at sea; enhance the responsibility of local Party committees, authorities and people together with the Coast Guard force in performing the task of managing and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

Thereby, strengthening the solidarity and attachment of the Vietnam Coast Guard with the people, contributing to building the national defense posture and the people's security posture at sea to firmly protect the national territorial sovereignty.

On this occasion, the Command of Coast Guard Region 2 presented 100 gifts (each worth 1 million VND) to families of policy beneficiaries, fishermen, ethnic minorities, and religious people in difficult circumstances in Con Tien and Cua Tung communes. Before that, the delegation visited and congratulated leaders, officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers of the two communes.
