Information about Truong Minh Quy's Vietnamese and Southern films was shared with Tuoi Tre Online by Mr. Vi Kien Thanh - Director of the Cinema Department on the afternoon of April 12.

Mr. Thanh said that the film version sent by the producer to the Cinema Department was faulty, so the appraisal and classification council has not yet been able to view the film. The department is currently "requesting the film version" for appraisal.

The film Viet and Nam by director Truong Minh Quy attracted the attention of the film-loving public when it was named in the Un Certain Regard category at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Competing in this category are 15 films from various countries.

Information about young filmmaker Truong Minh Quy

Quy was born in 1990 in Buon Ma Thuot.

After a year studying directing at the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, he decided to stop studying to pursue an independent creative career in 2010.

Truong Minh Quy's works have participated in the Asian Film Academy program (Busan International Film Festival, 2012), Berlinale Talents (Berlin International Film Festival, 2016); and have been screened at prestigious international short film festivals such as Oberhausen (Germany), Clermont-Ferrand (France), Les Rencontres Internationales Paris (France).

He received the Art Award at the 20th VideoBrasil (São Paulo) in 2017, and the Best Southeast Asian Short Film award at the 32nd Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) in 2021.
