The stolen bus belonged to the private bus company A&S Transit. When he was discovered, the boy abandoned the bus and ran away. When the police caught him later, he stood there smiling shyly, showing that he knew his mistake.
The boy drove the bus around Tampines, Punggol and Pasir Ris, Singapore.
Police are taking statements to continue investigating the case.
12-year-old boy caught by police after stealing a bus and driving 100km.
Many netizens were shocked by the recklessness of this boy. " He's so young but so violent. He doesn't care about his own safety or the safety of others."
In a Facebook post on April 13, a representative of A&S Transit said they knew many people were concerned about the incident but " we do not want to cause any stress for the boy, as the student's semester exams are coming up."
"A&S hopes that everyone will have a benevolent and altruistic approach in guiding young people and supporting them in pursuing their passion. A&S has always believed that young people must be supported and guided in their passion, whether it is the passion for driving a bus or anything else," the bus company A&S Transit posted its opinion.
The company also said it does not condone the 12-year-old's dangerous and impulsive actions, but it "hopes to support him and other young people by guiding them to express their passions in the healthiest way possible."
