Shorten construction time.

In mid-April, the atmosphere at the Dong Hoi bridge construction site was extremely lively and urgent. The contractor, Dong Son Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company, was pouring the final meters of concrete for the access road connecting the Dong Hoi bridge and Highway 42 leading to Xuan Quang 2 commune.

Mr. Huynh Ngoc Tinh, the project commander of Dong Son Infrastructure Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, said: Currently, the Dong Hoi bridge project is entering the completion phase. The bridge deck is basically finished; construction is continuing on items such as bridge railings, cleaning, and aesthetics. Regarding the approach roads, the construction unit has completed over 95%; simultaneously, they are implementing road markings, installing guardrails, signs, reinforcing the road shoulders, and ensuring traffic safety. These items are expected to be completed by the end of April, but the unit is still facilitating temporary use of the bridge by the local people.

According to the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board (BQL), the Dong Hoi Bridge project starts at Km0+0.00 on the DH42 route in Dong Hoi village and ends on the DT647 route in Ky Lo village (Xuan Quang 1 commune), with a total length of over 2.6km; of which the Dong Hoi bridge itself is nearly 320m long. The project has a total investment value of over 175 billion VND, with the BQL as the investor. Construction began in August 2023 and is expected to be completed in November 2025.

The Dong Hoi Bridge is an essential project, proposed and awaited by the local people for a long time. Its early completion helps shorten distances and save significant time and costs for travel and goods transportation for residents in the Dong Xuan area.

Mr. Nguyen Binh Phuong, chief construction supervisor of the Dong Hoi Bridge project, said: Recognizing the role and significance of the Dong Hoi Bridge project, the investor and construction units determined from the outset that they must focus and mobilize resources, machinery, equipment, and personnel to accelerate the construction progress. Fortunately, throughout the two years of construction, the weather has been quite favorable, so the work has not been interrupted by rain or floods. At this point, the main components of the project are basically complete; the remaining steps will be finished this April. Recently, the Dong Hoi Bridge project was designated by the Management Board as a project commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Phu Yen province, facilitating temporary travel for the people. The project was completed nearly 7 months ahead of schedule.

According to the Dong Xuan District People's Committee, the Dong Hoi bridge is an essential project that has been proposed and awaited by the people for a long time. The early completion of the project will shorten distances and save a lot of time and costs for travel and goods transportation for people in the district.

Mr. Le Phuoc Long, residing in Ky Lo village, Xuan Quang 1 commune, stated: "My family, like many other households, lives in Ky Lo village, but our cultivated land is located in Dong Hoi village. Before this bridge was built, even though the two villages were only separated by a river, we sometimes had to take a detour of several tens of kilometers. Normally, during the dry season, I had to cross a temporary wooden bridge across the river; during the rainy season, I had to take a ferry, costing several hundred thousand dong per month. The most difficult part was for the children going to school, having to cross back and forth between the two banks of the river every day, which was extremely dangerous. For nearly half a month now, the construction unit has facilitated access to the Dong Hoi bridge, making travel and work much more convenient for the people. Everyone is happy and excited."

Mr. Tran Quoc Huy, Vice Chairman of the Dong Xuan District People's Committee, said: "The Dong Hoi Bridge has great significance for Dong Xuan district; it creates many advantages for the daily life, business, and economic development of the people in the two villages of Dong Hoi and Ky Lo. Furthermore, this bridge will help shorten the distance between Phu Mo, Xuan Quang 1, Xuan Quang 2 communes and La Hai town. The project also helps in timely rescue efforts during natural disasters, contributes to ensuring national defense and security; creates momentum for socio-economic development, attracts investment to exploit the potential and strengths of eco-tourism in the western area of Dong Xuan district in particular and Phu Yen province in general."

Mr. Dam Thanh Phong, Head of Quality Management Department 3, Management Board, said: Currently, almost all the main components of the Dong Hoi bridge project are basically completed, meeting the transportation needs of the people. Construction units are completing the cleaning and finishing stages of the project. However, at the intersection with DT647 (50m long), there are still 4 households that have not completed the relocation and resettlement procedures. We request the Dong Xuan District People's Committee to work decisively with these households to speed up the handover of the land, helping the construction units to complete the project as soon as possible.
