The first Lao player in V.League history to do the same thing as Tien Linh

Immediately after signing a contract with Dong A Thanh Hoa Club, Damoth Thongkhamsavath chose a completely new shirt number in his career. He wore shirt number 22 in V.League 2024/25 - the same number as Nguyen Tien Linh in the Vietnam national team and Binh Duong Club.

In fact, this is not the familiar number that Damoth chose in the past. At his old team Ezra FC, Damoth Thongkhamsavath wore the number 8 shirt, while in the national team he wore the number 15.

At this player's new club, U22 Vietnam player Vo Nguyen Hoang wears number 8 and former national player Trinh Van Loi wears number 15.

Damoth Thongkhamsavath signed a contract with Thanh Hoa Club.

Thanh Hoa Club has high expectations for Damoth Thongkhamsavath. He is the first Lao player in history to play in the V.League.

Damoth Thongkhamsavath was able to play as a foreign player of Vietnamese origin. The Thanh team did not lose a single foreign player slot and this was the reason why they easily decided to sign a contract with the Lao player.

Damoth Thongkhamsavath's grandparents are both Vietnamese citizens but have been living in Laos for a long time. The midfielder revealed that his grandparents are from Quang Binh province.

In the match against Vietnam at the AFF Cup 2024, Damoth started and somewhat proved his ability despite having to face Doan Ngoc Tan and Nguyen Hoang Duc. The midfielder born in 2004 competed well, calmly controlled the ball and passed to his teammates on the front line. His thin physique was a barrier that prevented Damoth from shining.
