Barcelona announced the cancellation of their friendly against Juventus just before the scheduled match. The Spanish team explained that many of their players were suffering from viral gastroenteritis and could not play.
"This is a big loss. Hopefully the players will recover soon," said Barcelona President Joan Laporta.
In a statement released a few hours later, Barcelona confirmed that their next match (against Arsenal) will go ahead as planned. The Spanish club believes that the players will recover in time to play for the fans.

According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, at least 15 Barcelona players have contracted the virus, including Jules Kounde, Alejandro Balde, Eric Garcia and Oriol Romeu. Several members of head coach Xavi's assistant team have also suffered from similar gastritis.
The friendly match between Barcelona and Juventus is part of the Soccer Champions Tour in the US. To serve the audience, Juventus held a practice session at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California (USA).
The Soccer Champions Tour features six of Europe's top football clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Barcelona, Juventus, Real Madrid and AC Milan. The US tour is also a chance for these teams to prepare for the new season.
The match between Barcelona and Juventus was scheduled to be the opening match of the Soccer Champions Tour. There are no plans to rematch the two clubs. Barcelona will next face Arsenal on July 26, while Juventus will play AC Milan on July 27.
