Vietnamese-Canadian player trains with Vietnam women's team

On the afternoon of May 6 in Hanoi , the Vietnamese women's team had their first training session at the Vietnam Youth Football Center (VYF), as part of a training session to prepare for the international friendly match with Werder Bremen Women's Club (Germany) at 7:00 p.m. on May 16 at Hang Day Stadium.

According to the schedule on May 12, the team will have another practice match with Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club - the team is training in Hanoi to prepare for the AFC Champions League Women's semi-final against Wuhan Jiangda (China).

Notably, during the training session of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team, overseas Vietnamese player Nguyen Hoang Nam Mi, born in 2003, plays as a central midfielder and has played for the Canadian U15 and U17 teams.

Nam Mi has just returned to Vietnam to play for the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club. And this team has worked with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to create conditions for Nam Mi to practice with the team, maintaining her physical strength before officially joining the club.

In 2025, the Vietnamese women's team will have many important international tournaments, including the 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers, the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship and the 33rd SEA Games.

Next June, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will have a training trip in Japan from June 8 to 18. After this training session, the team will enter the qualifying round of the 2026 Women's Asian Cup, with Group E matches taking place at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ) from June 29 to July 5.

Sharing about the preparation process for the Vietnamese women's team, Mr. Mai Duc Chung shared: "The Vietnamese women's team has the advantage of being the host of the 2026 Asian Cup Women's Qualifiers. The whole team is determined in this tournament."
