Song Giang suspension bridge connects Thanh Lien and Phong Thinh communes, Thanh Chuong district (Nghe An). Song Giang suspension bridge was built in 1985 and put into use in 1987. The bridge is 120 m long. Up to now, after nearly 40 years of "service", Song Giang suspension bridge has seriously degraded.

Song Giang suspension bridge was built on National Highway 46C and is one of the key traffic intersections, so every day, the traffic volume of people and vehicles passing through Song Giang suspension bridge is very large.

This is one of the only roads connecting localities along Highway 46C. If not going through the Song Giang suspension bridge, people have to go around to Ho Chi Minh road which is quite a long distance.

Currently, the Song Giang suspension bridge has seriously degraded, and the management agency has had to put up a sign saying "the bridge is very weak" to limit trucks weighing over 5 tons from passing through the bridge to ensure safety.

According to Dan Viet reporters, some cracks appeared on both sides of the Song Giang suspension bridge. The bridge was also dilapidated. Every time a lot of vehicles passed by, the Song Giang suspension bridge shook.

Underneath the bridge, the steel structure has also deteriorated.

Some metal components of the Song Giang suspension bridge have rusted.

The cable system has been stained by time.

The management and operation unit of Song Giang suspension bridge arranged 2 staff to guard at both ends of the bridge to divide traffic and limit vehicles from crossing the bridge at the same time to ensure safety.

For many years, at meetings with voters, people have continuously suggested building a replacement bridge to ensure safety. At the same time, it is convenient for the circulation of goods and economic development.

The People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province has also submitted a document to the General Department of Roads requesting the early construction of a rigid bridge across Giang River to replace the degraded suspension bridge.

The General Department of Roads then submitted to the Ministry of Transport a decision on the investment policy for the project to build a new bridge to replace the Giang River suspension bridge. However, the project has not yet been allocated capital.

Currently, the Giang River suspension bridge, nearly 40 years old, still plays an important role in serving the travel and goods circulation needs of the people.
