Recently, a clip of a giant chili pepper plant in Long An has attracted more than 2 million views. Below the clip, many viewers commented, demanding to “clear the name of Uncle Ba Phi”.
Recently, a clip of a chili plant with an outstanding height has been circulating on social media. The TikTok account that posted the clip claimed that the chili plant is over 3m tall and grows 1m each year, causing a stir in the online community.
The chili plant owner was confused, not knowing how to pick the fruit later.
After 5 days of posting, the clip attracted more than 2 million views and nearly 5,000 comments. Many viewers were amazed, praising the plant owner for his skillful planting, saying it was the first time they had seen such a tall chili plant…
The person who posted the clip said that the tree grew naturally and no one took care of it. This information surprised the online community even more.
"I don't understand why the plants growing naturally in the corner of the wall grow strongly, but the ones I planted in the garden just wither away," Hunganh exclaimed.
Some accounts in the same situation commented: “The chili plant looks so nice, I wish I had one like that. The chili plants I planted all had twisted leaves and shriveled shoots”; “It turned out the chili plant was over 3m tall. My plant couldn’t grow after 4 months”…
Many experienced people said that the chili pepper in the clip is delicious and very crunchy when eaten when green. They advised the clip owner to break off the top so that the plant can spread out and limit its height.
In particular, many humorous comments called this unique chili plant Uncle Ba Phi's chili plant. People also joked that they had to clear the name of a character who was associated with exaggeration and hyperbole.
Reading everyone's comments, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc (32 years old, from Phu Yen ) felt very happy. Initially, he posted the clip for everyone to watch for fun.
When the clip went trending and was viewed by millions of people, he was surprised and embarrassed.
“At first, I estimated that I should say in the clip that the chili plant was over 3m tall. In fact, I measured it exactly at 2.5m. Here, I would like to correct the height of the chili plant.
However, chili plants taller than 2m are also very rare. This plant is still growing. This is the first time I have seen a chili plant that tall. Many viewers also said they have never seen a chili plant as tall as the one I filmed in the clip," said Mr. Phuc.
Mr. Phuc lives and works in Duc Hoa district, Long An province. The chili plant is located behind the factory where he works. He discovered the chili plant in early 2024. It grows from a crack in the wall, no one takes care of it but it grows very well.
“This is a chili pepper variety, small and very spicy. The chili pepper plant grows where we wash dishes. Someone must have dropped the seeds and the plant grew on its own,” Phuc said.
The chili plant is not only exceptionally tall but also bears a lot of fruit. The plant flowers and bears young fruit continuously. So much so that the 20 workers in the factory pick all the fruit every day and still cannot finish it all.
Recently, the chili plant was blown down by the wind. Mr. Phuc used a pole and wire to support it. He plans to cut off the top, let the plant branch out, and limit its height.
