The match between Liverpool and Yokohama F. Marinos took place on the evening of July 30th at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama, Japan. This was the final match of coach Arne Slot's team's summer tour in Asia, following their 2-4 defeat against AC Milan in Hong Kong (China).

Nearly 70,000 spectators came to watch the match in Yokohama.

Despite being a friendly match, it attracted a large audience thanks to the allure of Liverpool – one of England's most historically significant clubs. 67,032 spectators attended the clash, setting a new record for a football match in Japan across all levels.

In the starting lineup, new coach Arne Slot continued to give opportunities to many young faces, while also testing the new signings Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. The first half ended goalless despite the game being heavily dominated by the English team.

Florian Wirtz scores on his Liverpool debut.

At the beginning of the second half, the home team Yokohama unexpectedly took the lead in the 55th minute with a goal from Asahi Uenaka after a sharp central combination. Not accepting the unfavorable result, Liverpool rushed forward and quickly equalized in the 62nd minute. Florian Wirtz – the blockbuster contract in the summer – had a classy move, firing a low shot from outside the penalty area into the far corner of the home team's goal.

Trey Nyoni put Liverpool ahead 2-1.

In the 68th minute, young midfielder Trey Nyoni scored, putting Liverpool ahead 2-1. The 2007-born player capitalized on a cross from Jeremie Frimpong and tapped the ball into the net from close range, leaving the Yokohama defense helpless.

16-year-old striker Rio Ngumoha scored the goal.

The more excited they played, the more the visitors scored the winning goal, 3-1, in the 87th minute. The scorer was Rio Ngumoha - a player who was only 16 years old but showed incredible bravery. After cutting the ball from midfield, Rio Ngumoha dribbled past two Yokohama defenders before finishing coolly into the near corner, beating the home team's goalkeeper.

Florian Wirtz was awarded the "Player of the Year" title and a prize of 1 million yen (£5,000).

This victory not only gave Liverpool a fitting farewell to their Asian fans, but also showcased the rapid maturation of their young players and the integration of the new signings.

Florian Wirtz was voted man of the match, while Rio Ngumoha continued to score strongly in the eyes of the coaching staff.

Coach Arne Slot is temporarily reassured with Liverpool's squad

Another noteworthy detail is that Liverpool's captain, Wataru Endo – the Japanese midfielder – had an emotional return home as he played for the first time in his homeland in the "The Kop" shirt. It's even more memorable considering that Yokohama had previously rejected him during a trial in 2009.

In a friendly match against the K-League All Stars in South Korea, Newcastle conceded the only goal in the 36th minute, scored by striker Kim Jin-kyu. Newcastle were without Alexander Isak, and their remaining strikers were completely ineffective in scoring.

Joe Willock's injury and late departure from the pitch added to Newcastle's already devastating defeat, following their 2-3 loss to Arsenal on July 27th. Newcastle will remain in South Korea awaiting their friendly match against Tottenham on August 3rd.
