always pay attention to improving the indicators of income, life, spirit, food, accommodation, and travel for coal workers. In particular, pay special attention to housing development plans for workers and miners.
In a small alley in Cam Pha ward, a level 4 house is gradually taking shape. A miner with a face darkened by the sun and wind of the open-air coal mine is busy working with the construction workers to complete the house, but his eyes always shine with indescribable joy. That joy is understandable, because in just a few months, his family will be able to celebrate the first Tet in their own new house. That is the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Dan, a worker at Transport Workshop 9, Cao Son Coal Joint Stock Company - TKV.
Mr. Dan's family has three young children, but what makes him most sad is that all three of them are unfortunately sick and need special intervention and treatment. "My wife is a nurse at a hospital, and in her spare time, she also spends all her time taking care of the children. To cover the children's special education expenses and family living expenses, my wife and I have worked very hard and made an effort. I am a driver but in my spare time, I also do electrical and water repair work for those in need. However, the difficult family situation has made our savings almost zero. For more than 4 years now, the whole family has been able to live in a rented house, which is makeshift and lacking."

The dream of owning a house of their own seemed to remain in the minds of Mr. Dan and his wife, until the Cao Son Coal Union proposed to support a house for him from the budget of the TKV Trade Union Shelter program, with a level of 100 million VND. As if given more strength, Mr. Dan's family discussed, borrowed money from relatives and started building the house in just a few months.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long, Vice President in charge of Cao Son Coal Union, in addition to the support of 100 million VND from the TKV Union Shelter Program, the Company Union also supported Mr. Dan's family with an additional 3 million VND. Some of the company's colleagues and workshop contributed working days, others supported the house design. Hopefully, the Union Shelter will help Mr. Dan's family to ease their difficulties and work with peace of mind.
The story about the new house of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, a worker at Transport Workshop 2 - Cam Pha Coal Trading Joint Stock Company also moved many people. Mr. Hai is an experienced worker, but his circumstances are difficult. For 17 years, Mr. Hai and his wife and children have lived in a rented house. His wife has no stable job, and his child is also being treated for an illness. He has a salary, but raising his children to go to school and taking care of the family has consumed all his income.
Last year, when the Trade Union of Cam Pha Coal Trading Joint Stock Company announced that he was eligible for the Trade Union Shelter, Mr. Hai seemed to be closer to his dream of settling down. Mr. Hai shared: I am very touched by the care and support of the TKV Trade Union, the Company Trade Union and my colleagues. During the time I built the house, people often came to support, visit and encourage me. Now, my family has moved into a new house. The house has truly become a support for my wife and I to have confidence in the future, to work with peace of mind to treat our child's illness and make ends meet.

Housing is always a concern for many struggling workers, and is also a major concern of TKV and coal industry enterprises. According to Mr. Le Thanh Xuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Coal and Minerals Trade Union, TKV has directed a number of units to plan to invest in building 11-12 storey apartment buildings for workers; with a scale of more than 1,000 rooms. Along with directing units to speed up the implementation of investment procedures, TKV Trade Union has also planned to upgrade existing apartment buildings to ensure the best living conditions for workers. The Trade Union Shelter Program continues to be spread, with this year's support level being 100 million VND/newly built house, higher than last year.
In the future, there will be more collective housing areas and Trade Union Shelters built from the passion of the Coal Industry leaders and the wishes of the miners. There, miners can put their worries aside when they return home. Their children have a stable place to study. Their wives can rest assured to take care of their families. And they themselves, when they put on their protective clothing to start a new shift, will have more motivation because they know that behind them is a real home, a warm home built by years of hard work and the care and sharing of their colleagues.
