Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are in a huge advantage in the race for Champions League semi-finals after resounding victories in the first leg of their quarter-finals.

Barcelona "destroyed" Dortmund

Welcoming Borussia Dortmund at home at Olimpico Lluis Companys, Barcelona had no difficulty creating a superior game compared to their opponents.

Coach Hansi Flick's students had a total of 18 shots, 10 of which were on target, and the fact that they only scored 4 goals can be considered lucky for Dortmund.

Robert Lewandowski continued to play brilliantly to score a brace of his own, while the remaining two goals of the Catalan team were shared equally between Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.

With a 4-0 victory, Barcelona is sure to enter the semi-finals of the Champions League this season, because it will be very difficult for anything crazy to happen in the rematch at Signal Iduna Park a week later.

Dortmund want to win the right to continue, so they have to do something crazy, which is to win 5-0 in the second leg.

At Olimpico Lluis Companys, Barcelona took the initiative to play aggressively right after the opening whistle and it only took them 25 minutes to score the opening goal.

From a Fermin Lopez free kick, Pau Cubarsí had just enough touch to create conditions for Raphinha to run down and cushion the ball close to the goal, putting Barcelona ahead 1-0.

After conceding a goal, Dortmund rose up and continuously created opportunities in the final minutes of the first half but could not take advantage of them.

Missing unfortunate opportunities, right at the beginning of the second half, Dortmund had to accept the second goal after an easy shot right on the goal line by Robert Lewandowski.

In the 66th minute, Lewandowski finished decisively after a pass from Lopez, completing a double against his former team in this match.

Not stopping there, from a quick attack, Raphinha created a favorable assist for Yamal to score the winning goal 4-0 for Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

PSG continues to "sow sorrow" for English football

After eliminating Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain made English football suffer more "bitter fruit" when they had a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in the first leg of the quarter-finals.

The victory also gives Luis Enrique's team a great chance to make it to the semi-finals of this year's Champions League.

At Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain was the better team and continuously put pressure on Aston Villa's goal, but was the team that conceded the first goal.

In the 35th minute, from a situation where Nuno Mendes lost the ball in midfield, Aston Villa organized a quick counterattack and ended with Morgan Rogers opening the score 1-0.

However, the home team at the Parc des Princes only needed 4 minutes to equalize 1-1 with a superb goal from Désiré Doué.

Continuing the momentum, PSG continued to play aggressively when the second half started and quickly took the lead 2-1 by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

In the 90+2 minute, Nuno Mendes performed solo in Aston Villa's penalty area before shooting past goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez to seal a 3-1 victory for Paris Saint-Germain.

By defeating Aston Villa, PSG completed a hat-trick of defeats against Premier League teams in this season's Champions League, after previously overcoming Man City and Liverpool.

This is the fourth time in history that a team has beaten three English representatives in the same Champions League campaign, after Bayern Munich (2013/14), Barcelona (2018/19) and Real Madrid (2021/22).

Notably, the victory over Villa was also the 7th time PSG successfully came back this season, of which 6 matches took place in 2025. This achievement helped the French capital team equal the record for the most successful comebacks in a season in the club's history, equal to the 1985/86 and 2003/04 seasons.

More importantly, this result gives Coach Luis Enrique and his team a huge advantage before the away match at Aston Villa in the second leg./.
