(Dan Tri) - Xu Guangli is studying for a master's degree at RMIT University (Melbourne, Australia). For the past 3 months, he has been traveling every week between his study abroad location and Dezhou City (China) because he wants to be with his girlfriend.

The story of Xu Guangli (28 years old) is attracting attention, because this young man has been constantly traveling between Melbourne (Australia) and Dezhou (China) with weekly frequency for the past 3 months.

The reason Xu travels so much is because he wants to be with his girlfriend every week. Xu is studying for a master's degree in arts management at RMIT University (Australia). In his final semester, he only has to attend one class per week.

Therefore, Xu often stays in Dezhou city (Shandong province, China) more than 4 days a week, then travels by plane to Melbourne city (Australia) to attend a class, according to school regulations.

Xu stayed only one night in Melbourne before flying back to China. It is estimated that Xu travels 18,000km between Dezhou and Melbourne every week.

When Xu's story became known, the Chinese online community was abuzz with debate. Some people thought he was a "playful" international student and a passionate young man, but others thought his actions showed a "problematic" mindset because he chose a solution that was too costly and tiring.

In response to the controversy, Xu had to explain: "My girlfriend finished her studies in Australia last summer and returned to China to work.

So I decided to travel back and forth between Australia and China so I could be with her every week, as a testament to my love for her. For me, life in Melbourne without her was really lonely."

Xu said he has been studying in Australia for the past eight years, so there are many things in his home country that make him feel bewildered. Xu believes his journeys are not in vain.

In the past 3 months, he has spent 4 days a week in Shandong province. He not only stays with his girlfriend but also spends time going out to observe, meet, and learn about the current working and living environment in his hometown.

Xu believes this will be beneficial for his future career, as he will return to China to work after completing his master's degree in Australia.

Xu said that over the past three months, he has spent about 6,700 yuan (nearly 24 million VND) each week traveling between China and Australia, including round-trip airfare, taxi fares and other expenses.

During a night in Melbourne after class, Xu often stayed at a friend's house to save money. Xu admitted that the cost of constantly traveling between China and Australia during the past period was a large sum, but he found it completely worth it.

After considering the time, money and effort spent on the trips, Xu felt he had made the right decision, because he could be with his girlfriend, enjoy the cuisine of his hometown and gradually adapt to life back home.
