According to TechCrunch , OpenAI has just introduced a new feature called "Tasks" for ChatGPT Plus, Team and Pro users worldwide. This feature helps users set reminders and manage automated requests easily, expected to change the way people use AI assistants in their daily lives.
Through “Tasks,” users can set reminders like “Remind me when my passport expires in six months” or recurring requests like “Every Friday, provide weekend plans based on weather and location.” Notifications will be sent through the platform where the user has enabled the feature.
The "Tasks" feature on ChatGPT helps users automate reminders, manage recurring tasks, save time and increase personal efficiency.
Users can access “Tasks” through the “4o with scheduled tasks” option in ChatGPT, then enter requests directly or manage tasks on a separate tab in the web application. ChatGPT also has the ability to suggest tasks based on the content of conversations with users.
There are some limitations to the feature, however. ChatGPT can't perform continuous searches or make online purchases. For example, you can ask ChatGPT to check for concert tickets every month, but you can't get notified when tickets go on sale or have the system buy tickets automatically. Even though "Tasks" is a limited version, it's already a step above existing AI assistants like Siri or Alexa.
OpenAI says it is currently in beta testing to gather user feedback to refine Tasks before rolling them out to the mobile app and free users. Tasks do not currently support task setting via Advanced Voice Mode.
OpenAI is also preparing to launch more complex AI agent systems, including one called “Operator” that can write code and book travel tickets. It is expected to launch in the coming weeks.
