Promoting the fundamental role of the agricultural sector, Chau Phu district focuses on shifting the structure of crops and livestock, forming concentrated production areas and linking product consumption, aiming at sustainable agricultural development.

In order to effectively implement the goal of restructuring the agricultural sector, gradually forming production areas according to the value chains of food products and key agricultural products of the district, and increasing production value, Chau Phu district has promoted propaganda work, aiming to change people's thinking about sustainable production and consumption methods. In propaganda work, the agricultural sector and related units focus on propaganda between farmers through farmer-to-farmer meetings of farmer clubs, cooperatives, and cooperative groups.

Chau Phu District Department of Agriculture and Environment said that in 2025, Chau Phu district set a target of ensuring the planting schedule, striving for a total annual planting area of ​​87,938 hectares, of which rice is 82,123 hectares, vegetables are 5,815 hectares, with a total food output of 532,751 tons; increasing the value of agricultural land production to 217.8 million VND/ha (an increase of 0.6 million VND/ha compared to 2024). At the same time, striving to reach 2,570 hectares of fruit tree planting area by the end of the year; expanding an additional 50 hectares of area in concentrated production areas, such as: Growing longan in the Bac Cay Sung sub-region ( Khanh Hoa commune), growing durian (Binh Chanh commune), specialized vegetable area (Binh Thuy commune), snakehead fish breeding area according to GlobalGAP standards (My Phu commune)...

Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment visited the production area participating in the 1 million hectare project of high-quality rice cultivation.

In the first months of 2025, the locality has focused on implementing the Project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030 in the district. To date, the rice area participating in the project in the whole district has reached 5,154.7 hectares, with 2,355 households participating (reaching 70.5% of the 2025 plan), implemented in 10 communes and towns. Regarding the implementation of rice production models according to the project criteria, 18 related models have been implemented, including 7 models from the provincial budget, 11 models selected by communes and towns as pilot models for replication.

Along with the implementation of the Project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030, Chau Phu district continues to effectively implement Resolution 09-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee on developing high-tech agriculture in the period of 2012 - 2020 and vision to 2030; the project on restructuring the agricultural sector, implementing chain linkage models, gradually reorganizing production, meeting the requirements of development and application of scientific and technological advances in production. Aiming at sustainable agricultural development, the agricultural sector of Chau Phu district has coordinated with relevant units to promote training, agricultural extension, vocational training, and build demonstration models to transfer technical advances and new technologies in the fields of cultivation, livestock, and aquaculture to farmers, helping to improve skills and increase the efficiency of agricultural production. Accordingly, localities have increased the use of certified seeds, applied "1 must, 6 reductions", "1 must, 5 reductions", sowed and fertilized by machine, and applied drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) in rice production.

The locality has stepped up propaganda to change people's thinking about sustainable production and consumption methods; restructure agriculture towards increasing added value, quality of agricultural and aquatic products, and increasing competitiveness in the market. In particular, continue to focus on implementing the plan to implement the Project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030 in the district. At the same time, the district's functional branches continue to mobilize farmers to participate in cooperatives and cooperative groups to link production, expand services and connect with businesses, implement production chains, and consume vegetable products and large fields. Regularly monitor, inspect, maintain and promptly repair irrigation works; invest in developing irrigation systems combined with intra-field traffic, creating favorable conditions for mechanization in the fields and transportation of agricultural products.

In the field of livestock and aquaculture, functional units continue to support people to develop livestock farming in the direction of biosafety, applying high technology, such as: Raising poultry on fermented bedding, raising in closed barn systems and developing clean products. Regularly inspect and monitor the disease situation in livestock, poultry and aquaculture, ensuring that no epidemics occur; carry out vaccinations, provide disinfectants to livestock households to clean and disinfect barns and farms, to prevent and control epidemics. At the same time, continue to expand the production and consumption chain of eel farming according to VietGAP standards in Thanh My Tay commune; develop a plan to inspect and manage the exploitation and protection of aquatic resources in the district. It is expected that by 2025, the total herd of pigs will reach 4,000 heads; buffaloes and cows 4,500 heads; and poultry 415,000 heads. Estimated meat output is 5,480 tons, egg output is 75 million. Estimated total pond area is 1,200 hectares, output is 105,500 tons.
