At around 5:00 p.m. this afternoon (August 17), a fire broke out in a house in alley 432 Duong Ba Trac Street, Ward 1, District 8 (HCMC). The red flames and billowing smoke enveloped the area, causing chaos.
Many people around shouted and brought fire extinguishers to put out the fire but failed.
Upon receiving the report, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police of District 8 mobilized fire trucks and officers and soldiers to the scene.
At the time of arrival, there were 4 people trapped inside the house, calling for help. The police promptly approached, controlled the fire and rescued everyone to safety.
Previously, at 3:00 p.m. the same day, a fire also broke out in a house in alley 183, Tan Hoa Dong Street (Ward 6, District 6).
Upon discovering the incident, neighbors used more than 30 mini fire extinguishers to put out the fire, but were unsuccessful. The house was located deep in a small alley, forcing the on-site forces to run outside.
The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of District 6 Police dispatched many vehicles and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to control the fire.
The fire did not cause any injuries but caused severe damage to many properties inside the house. A neighboring house was affected, the walls were covered in black smoke.
According to local residents, there were two people inside at the time of the fire. Neighbors alerted them and helped them get out safely.
Authorities are currently assessing the damage and investigating the cause of both fires.
