India Times quoted information from the Guanajuato State Public Information Office on June 2 saying that a fire broke out at a drug rehabilitation center in central Mexico on June 1, killing 12 people and injuring several others.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but according to initial information, the fire may be related to criminal gangs.

Drug gangs operating in the area have previously targeted medical facilities to force patients into joining their gangs, sources said.
"Investigators are collecting evidence and taking witness statements to investigate the cause of the incident," the statement said on June 1.
Gunmen attacked a similar facility in the state of Sinaloa in April, killing at least nine people. According to authorities, gangs often execute victims who refuse to join their organization.
Mexico has been struggling with widespread criminal violence since the government launched its war on drugs in 2006. Since then, nearly 480,000 people have died and about 120,000 remain missing, according to official figures.
