Passionate about artificial intelligence research
Tri Tue discovered his passion for artificial intelligence when he witnessed the global impact of large language models like ChatGPT. “I was deeply impressed by how this model changed the way people interact with technology in a short time. That motivated me to learn more and delve into AI research,” Tri Tue shared.
From a math major who won second prize in the 2021 Vietnam Mathematical Olympiad (VMO) National Excellent Student Competition, Tri Tue has sharp logical thinking and a passion for solving complex problems. This foundation has helped the male student quickly approach and master fields such as: Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision.

Tri Tue's journey in AI research began from the early days of participating in the modeling, simulation and optimization laboratory at the International Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (BK.AI), Hanoi University of Science and Technology. "I started by applying to participate in a research project in the lab at school. At that time, I did not have much experience, but was enthusiastically guided by my seniors and self-studied through documents and online courses," Tri Tue said.
Self-learning spirit and high adaptability
Tri Tue said that AI research in Vietnam, especially in an academic environment, is not always easy. “The biggest challenge is the lack of computing resources and guidance from experienced teachers. To overcome this, I take advantage of platforms such as Kaggle, Google Colab, and sometimes rent GPUs (an electronic circuit capable of performing calculations at high speed) to conduct experiments,” Tri Tue shared.
In addition, Tri Tue actively participates in international AI communities, learns from scientific papers and exchanges with researchers around the world. It is the spirit of self-learning and adaptability that has helped the young man go far with 5 scientific papers submitted to prestigious international conferences such as: NAACL, ACL, EMNLP and NeurIPS.

Tri Tue's works are highly appreciated by the international academic community. In particular, Tue has two papers being reviewed at NeurIPS 2025 (one of the leading conferences on machine learning and AI), demonstrating the student's vision and perseverance in pursuing pioneering research topics.
In parallel with his final year of computer science, Tri Tue is also taking on the role of AI researcher at the Artificial Intelligence Center of FPT Software, while continuing research projects at the Big Data Research Institute of Vingroup Corporation.
“I want to continue researching to create more effective AI models, especially in applications specifically for Vietnamese. At the same time, I hope to inspire other young people in Vietnam, to together bring Vietnamese AI to the world,” Tri Tue shared about his dream.
Dr. Ngo Van Linh, lecturer at the School of Information and Communication Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, commented: “Tue is a very proactive student, with a spirit of self-study and a love of discovery. He works seriously, responsibly, and is always willing to spend time outside of class to delve into problems. He also has clear logical thinking, especially in issues related to algorithm research and language models.”
