According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , on the occasion of Mr. Lee Jae Myung being elected as the 21st President of Korea, on June 4, General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong sent congratulatory messages.
In the telegrams, General Secretary To Lam andPresident Luong Cuong expressed their belief that with the prestige, mettle and strategic vision of President Lee Jae Myung, the Republic of Korea will continue to develop strongly, achieve even greater achievements, and affirm the role and international position of the Republic of Korea in the coming time.
General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong affirmed their readiness to work with President Lee Jae Myung and the Republic of Korea to continue promoting bilateral relations to develop more substantially, effectively and comprehensively for the benefit of the two peoples, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
On the same day, June 4, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu sent a congratulatory message to Mr. Park Chan Dae, acting chairman of the Democratic Party.
New President Lee Jae Myung was sworn in and delivered a speech before the National Assembly on the morning of June 4. The official inauguration ceremony will take place on July 17.
South Korea's new president is expected to bring the country back to a period of stability, consistent and predictable policies in responding to the rapidly evolving and complex regional and global context.
South Korea is the host country for important activities of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2025, of which Vietnam is a member. The APEC 2025 Summit Week is expected to be held in late October and early November.
Among Lee Jae Myung's election pledges is to further strengthen trilateral cooperation between South Korea, Japan and the United States.
According to observers, it is likely that inter-Korean relations will also have positive signs in the near future, as the Democratic Party has a tradition of advocating soft relations with Pyongyang.
