In the first 6 months of 2025, on the journey of "sharing happiness with the community" of Vietnamese Family Home, Hoa Sen Group has realized the dream of re-roofing, replacing purlins and building toilets... for nearly 20 families participating in the program nationwide. Among them, there are projects that have been completed and put into use.
A new roof that is no longer dilapidated for Tran Kim Khanh's family
Tran Kim Khanh is one of three characters participating in the filming of Vietnamese Family Home - Episode 127. The story of Khanh's determination and will has brought tears to thousands of viewers present at the studio as well as on the small screen. Her father died in an accident, leaving her mother, Le Thi Mai, to struggle to make a living by collecting scrap metal and doing all kinds of odd jobs to raise two small children in a thin body that is fighting illness every day.
Kim Khanh bowed her head and shared her difficulties with the Vietnamese Family Shelter program.
Due to difficult family circumstances, Khanh had to drop out of school for nearly a year because her mother could not afford to pay for her education. However, her will and inner strength overcame adversity. She did not give up on her dream, cycling 10km to school every day, determined to study well to become a doctor.
Currently, the three of them are living in a house that cannot provide shade or shelter from the rain. The roof is torn, and every rainy season, water leaks everywhere, and the sun shines directly onto the bed. Therefore, when coming to the program, Khanh expressed his wish to have a new roof to help the three of them have a place to shelter from the rain and sun every time the rainy season comes.
The house where Khanh and her mother live is only covered with a few old corrugated iron sheets and the rafters are crooked. Every time it rains, water leaks everywhere, and there is no dry place to sleep.
Listening and understanding her feelings, Hoa Sen Group donated all the corrugated iron and purlins, directly supporting the construction so that the family could repair the roof. No more nights lying in fear listening to the rain, no more afternoons having to cover the wind with an old piece of canvas, to Khanh, that was the most precious gift.
The image of Tran Kim Khanh's mother looking at the new roof after completion moved everyone to tears.
New toilet – small privacy, but great meaning for Nguyen Thanh Nhan.
Nguyen Thanh Nhan and her younger brother at the filming set of Vietnamese Family Home
Within just two years, Nguyen Thanh Nhan lost both her father and mother. The two orphaned sisters lived with their 77-year-old grandfather in an old house without even a toilet. Bathing and washing had to wait until nightfall, and if they wanted to use the toilet, they had to ask a neighbor for help. Despite all the hardships and inconveniences, the small shoulders still persevered, giving up their only bicycle to their younger brother to go to school, while they walked.
Amidst the old house and life of deprivation, the image of two sisters loving each other makes the audience choke up.
Not asking for a delicious meal, not dreaming of anything far away, I just hope to be able to continue studying, to become a teacher in the future.
Sympathizing with Nhan’s story, Hoa Sen Group directly supported the construction of a new toilet for the family. A small project, but enough to help Nhan live in more privacy and safety – something that seems simple but many of us take for granted.
Sanitary equipment was delivered to the house as a small gift carrying the hope of more comfortable and safe living days for Nhan's family.
A new roof for days without worrying about rain or shine for Nguyen Tuan Dang Khoi
The story of Dang Khoi's family , one of the three character situations in episode 132, made the audience choke up. In a house without a mother's hand, the father of that small family silently shouldered everything, from food and clothing to the dream of educating his two children. Since his mother died of cancer, his father, Cuong, had to work as a hired hand and repair things to raise his two children. Khoi and his sister grew up in a makeshift house with a rotten corrugated iron roof, holes in the walls, and no toilet. During the rainy season, water leaked everywhere. On sunny days, the house was no different from an oven with a faded corrugated iron roof that burned the skin.
Khoi's father's small corner of repairing spare parts without a sign.
Despite the lack of money, the three children always depend on each other and live a life full of love. Khoi's words made the whole studio quiet: "I just hope my sisters and I can continue studying. As for the house... having a roof over our heads is enough."
Understanding these concerns, Hoa Sen Group decided to support the entire corrugated iron roof and purlins, helping Khoi's family have a more solid roof, so that the three of them no longer have to worry when it rains or the sun is harsh.
Thus, the three new roofs, from corrugated iron sheets, purlins to small toilets, are not simply material supports. They are shelter in life, gifts of love in difficult times. These gifts help the children have a place to study without leaks, a peaceful sleeping place without worrying about rain or sun, a proper home to grow up safer and more stable. Most importantly, it is hope - hope that despite their disadvantaged starting point, the children can still nurture beautiful dreams and continue their journey of life with undying faith.
Hopefully, with this timely support, the lives of the children and their families will be somewhat less difficult. I wish that the road ahead for Khanh, Nhan and Khoi will be more open, and that there will be more loving arms coming to share and protect them.
The program Vietnamese Family Home is broadcast at 8:20 p.m. every Friday on HTV7 channel.
