The school's three main admission methods include: Direct admission and priority consideration for students in specialized classes; Admission based on high school graduation exam scores; and Combined admission.
In the combined admission method, the selection process will combine scores from specialized aptitude tests and academic transcripts; high school graduation exam scores; or scores from specialized aptitude tests with scores from talent tests.
Specifically, candidates only need to choose one subject in which they excel within the subject combination to take the specialized aptitude test and use the score for admission consideration. For the remaining two subjects in the combination, the university will consider their academic transcript scores or high school graduation exam scores.
"The score for the specialized aptitude test will be doubled during the admissions process. This aims to ensure both differentiation and suitability for the chosen field of study, while also leveraging the assessment value from high school to reduce exam pressure," Mr. Trung shared.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trung stated that the school has maintained this method consistently for the past four years, allowing candidates to plan early. Candidates only need to choose the subjects in which they have the greatest advantage to take the exam. Therefore, they don't need to prepare excessively for the exam; they only need to study the high school curriculum well and can take the exam multiple times.
Representatives from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education announced that in 2026, the university will organize three rounds of specialized competency assessment exams at five testing locations in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang , Dak Lak, and Tay Ninh, with approximately 40,000 test-takers.
Candidates will take exams in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, and English, each exam conducted online on a computer for 90 minutes.
The first phase of the exam will take place on March 26, 27, 28, and 29; the second phase on May 7, 8, 9, and 10; and the third phase on May 29, 30, and 31.
