When publisher Blizzard locked down trading in Diablo IV earlier this week, players had no idea that it was all due to a staggering amount of money being bid on a single weapon in the game. The 30 billion gold price tag could cause an economic imbalance in Diablo IV, and publisher Blizzard had no choice but to intervene promptly.
The crossbow has options that aren't too formidable.
According to the video below, the crossbow named Lord Ballista was put up for sale on the Discord channel earlier this week and with its many options, players could not imagine bidding up to an outrageous amount for a single weapon.
With an initial price of 150 million gold, many Diablo IV players continuously bid at a dizzying rate for this golden crossbow. A Discord user named "Poor Guy" raised the price to 20 billion, then 30 billion in the astonished eyes of witnesses. Obviously, this is not small change and the character is not poor compared to his name. The winning bidder was forced to use 3 different characters in Diablo IV to transfer the money because each character can only carry 9,999,999,999 gold in their backpack.

It's unclear how "Poor Guy" earned 30 billion gold or how the transaction went, but the massive deal is something players have never seen in Diablo IV before. The auction caught the attention of publisher Blizzard, who were forced to block in-game trading.
It is not known how publisher Blizzard will handle the players because it is not certain that they violated the game's rules, but this is certainly a headache for the producers of Diablo IV.
