Việt NamViệt Nam14/05/2024

Take advantage

Yen Nguyen is a locality with a tradition of producing safe vegetables in Chiem Hoa district. Previously, people mainly grew them using traditional methods on a small, fragmented scale, without paying attention to quality, so the value of the products was not high.

Mr. Hoang Van Quy, Deputy Director of Yen Nguyen Commune Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative (Chiem Hoa) said: Currently, the Cooperative has 9 member households participating in production linkage with a total area of over 10 hectares, mainly growing chili and cucumbers, and linking to consume products with Minh Tam Livestock and Poultry Breeding Cooperative (Son Duong) and Fusa Organic Agriculture Joint Stock Company (Hai Duong City). When participating in the linkage chain, people are linked by the Cooperative to organize production, instruct on planting techniques, care, pest control and post-harvest vegetable processing according to the correct process, so the quality of the products is significantly improved, while organizing product consumption linkages to help stabilize output.

People of Yen Nguyen commune (Chiem Hoa) intensively develop safe vegetable growing areas.

These days, Mr. Nong Van Thuong's family in Khuon Khoai village, Yen Nguyen commune is focusing on taking care of the second crop of chili. Mr. Thuong said that in previous years, he planted 1,000 m2 of corn but it was not very effective. In early September 2023, he cooperated with Fusa Organic Agriculture Joint Stock Company ( Hai Duong City) to plant nearly 2,000 m2 of Korean chili peppers according to organic processes for export. The company supports 100% post-payment of seeds, organic fertilizers, and biological products to prevent pests and diseases, as well as providing technical guidance on care and purchasing output products at market prices.

Lien Nghia village, Vinh Quang commune is one of the localities with large vegetable granaries in Chiem Hoa district. Currently, the whole village has 112 households with 545 people, of which 90% of the households in the village grow safe vegetables. Ms. Dao Thi Tuyen, Lien Nghia village said that her family has a total area of nearly 5,000 m2 of land, of which 3,000 m2 is land for planting vegetables. She uses all the land for planting vegetables, intensively cultivating 4 crops/year. In the least years, she earns from 70 to 80 million VND/crop, in the most years, more than a hundred million VND. Last year alone, vegetables had good prices, after deducting all expenses, she saved 90 million VND.

Comrade Pham Van Cau, Chairman of Vinh Quang Commune People's Committee, said that every year, the Commune People's Committee regularly coordinates with the Agricultural Extension Center, the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and cooperatives and enterprises to organize training sessions, share knowledge to help people update new information, apply technical advances in safe vegetable production...

There are still difficulties

Although the efficiency of vegetable production is increasingly improved and enhanced in the direction of concentrated goods, ensuring food safety, meeting the increasing demands of the market, however, at present, the development of safe vegetable production areas in the district still has some difficulties such as: The production scale is still small, lack of linkage, no large-scale specialized concentrated production areas have been formed associated with processing and stable consumption markets in the chain, the linkage between the development of raw material areas and processing facilities is not tight, the area certified for safety standards is still low; productivity, quality and value of products are not high, not commensurate with potential and advantages; attracting businesses to invest in developing production, preservation, processing and consumption is still difficult.

Comrade Do Van Hieu, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Chiem Hoa district, said that by 2030, the district strives to have an area of safe vegetables of about 600 hectares, concentrated in the communes of Yen Nguyen, Hoa Phu, Tan Thinh, Phuc Thinh, Vinh Quang, Kim Binh, Trung Ha, Ha Lang...

In order to implement the Project on Developing Safe and Concentrated Vegetable Production Areas, Ensuring Traceability of Origin Associated with Processing and Consumption Markets in Tuyen Quang Province by 2030, the district is focusing on reviewing the areas in communes prioritizing the development of specialty and indigenous vegetable varieties, and organic production. The district has policies to support production and processing establishments to improve their capacity and skills in organizing production, monitoring quality, accessing markets, and providing product information. At the same time, it establishes, grants, and manages codes for growing areas, packaging facilities serving preliminary processing, processing, and consumption of products to meet domestic vegetable consumption needs and towards export, contributing to ensuring food safety and hygiene, in order to improve public health.
