Hieu and Nghiep are independent candidates for this year's high school graduation exam, both born in 2005, both soldiers of Battalion 1, Regiment 741 (Dien Bien Province Military Command) and both have the dream of becoming officers in the Border Guard. Right from the moment they joined the army, they expressed their desire to retake the exam to try their hand at university.
"When we first joined the unit, we expressed our wish to take the university entrance exam to our superiors. We thought it would be difficult, but the commanders were very attentive, encouraging and supportive," Hieu shared.

Both registered to take the C00 exam (Literature, History, Geography), which is a traditional exam block for many soldiers who dream of serving long-term in the armed forces.
Because they did not have the opportunity to attend review classes like other candidates, Hieu and Nghiep have been studying together for over a month. The two young soldiers took advantage of every lunch break, every evening after studying, training, farming or squad activities to review their lessons. The unit helped them find and provide textbooks, sample exams, reference books, etc.
Senior Lieutenant Thao A Long - Political Commissar of Infantry Battalion 1, Regiment 741 said: "After the two students expressed their wishes, the unit purchased the application documents and provided instructions on how to complete the registration procedures. At the same time, the unit commander also proactively requested additional study materials and created time for the students to review for the exam as much as possible. This is also a way to arouse the spirit of progress and learning among the youth force."

After finishing the Literature exam, Nghiep shared: "This year's exam was quite good, open-minded and close to life. I did well on the test, confident in the social commentary and literary analysis sections." Hieu was excited: "We all did well on the test. We had a good start."
