Trinh Cong Son Park space on the banks of the poetic Huong River |
One afternoon in late September, like many other afternoons, tourists and locals came to Trinh Cong Son Park (located at the head of Gia Hoi Bridge, Phu Xuan Ward) to enjoy the fresh air of autumn weather. And surprisingly, that afternoon, the saxophone of artist Tran Manh Tuan resounded with the familiar melodies of Trinh's music. The circle of people coming to listen gradually expanded around the stele engraved with his famous song "Noi vong tay lon" (Joining Big Hands), which had just been placed in the park. Thus, after the street named after Trinh Cong Son, Hue had a park named after him on that street, then his bronze statue was placed right in the center of the park and now there is a stone stele engraved with one of the songs that made the name of the Hue musician.
The music and lyrics of the song "Joining Hands Together" were carefully carved by Non Nuoc stonemasons (Da Nang). Each word of the song sparkles on the 21-ton stone stele, so that the melody will forever echo along the banks of the Perfume River - the origin of Trinh's music. The song was born in the late 1960s, in the context of the country being divided into two regions. The lyrics carry the desire for peace , for the country to be united. The song was published in the collection "Kinh Viet Nam" by Trinh Cong Son, published by Nhan Ban in 1970.
Many music and Trinh Cong Son researchers say that after April 30, 1975, this song was played on Saigon Radio, as a historical milestone - marking the event of the country's unification. After nearly half a century, "Joining Hands" is still sung on major holidays, community events, and concerts, expressing the spirit of solidarity, connecting people, and opening the arms of humanity.
Before being chosen as a park named after Trinh Cong Son, this beautiful land located on the banks of the Huong River adjacent to the Dong Ba River had become an attractive destination due to its poetic scenery and many events, cultural and community art programs. Since being named Trinh Cong Son - this space has been renovated, becoming green, beautiful and peaceful. In addition to Trinh music programs, many other events have also chosen Trinh Park as a stage or stop.
Mr. Nguyen Phu (Vy Da ward), who often visits Trinh Cong Son park, said: "Hue has many beautiful spaces and they are all located next to the Huong River. But Trinh park still has something unique, not only poetic but also has the breath of music, of serenity and freshness."
Talking about the park named after her brother, Ms. Trinh Vinh Trinh could not hide her emotion and happiness. After the street name and bronze statue, "Mr. Son has returned to Hue in another way - his song has been carved into a stone stele."
Recognizing the contributions of musicians with the Trinh family name In 2011, the People's Council of Thua Thien Hue province, now Hue city, approved the naming of a street after the late musician Trinh Cong Son. The 600m long street stretches from the beginning of Gia Hoi bridge to the end adjacent to Nguyen Binh Khiem street. Later, the land adjacent to the street, with the land jutting out into the Huong river, was chosen as Trinh Cong Son park. This is to recognize the contributions of the late musician Trinh Cong Son to Vietnamese music in general and Hue in particular. Thereby, contributing to the embellishment of the general landscape of the ancient capital of Hue and the space of the banks of the Huong river - an indispensable "lyrical character" in the music of the musician Trinh. |
