The woman who single-handedly supports many disabled people

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nha went to the enterprise to survey and find jobs for people with disabilities.

Extraordinary willpower

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nha (born in 1983) comes from a poor farming family. Right from birth, she was unlucky because she only had a healthy right arm, her left arm was disabled. During her childhood, she sometimes encountered excessive teasing from her peers, and looks of pity, causing her to bow her head in self-consciousness. Her path to education was also bumpy and after many interruptions, with constant efforts, she graduated from high school and then studied at the Quang Ninh Agricultural - Forestry - Fishery High School. But her degree could not overcome the physical barrier. Ms. Nha "knocked on the doors" of dozens of companies but was not recruited.

Therefore, she soon wanted to participate in social work to overcome herself and spread understanding to the community. As a disabled person who has received encouragement from many social organizations, she wanted to become a successor of that spirit to help people in the same situation overcome their fate. In 2013, the opportunity came when she was elected as the Head of the Disabled Youth Club of Hai Duong province (formerly). This was a milestone that helped her assert herself not only by her determination, but also by her ability and enthusiasm.

Despite having no salary or allowance, every day Ms. Nha regularly travels about 40 km to the former Hai Duong Province Association for the Disabled. The road she walks on is slippery on rainy days and muddy on sunny days, but she has never been discouraged.

It is that determination that helps Ms. Nha become a support for hundreds of disabled people in the locality. In addition to her work as the Head of the Disabled Youth Club of Hai Duong province, she is also the Chief of Office of the Disabled People's Association of Hai Duong province and the President of the Disabled People's Association of Kinh Mon town for the 2022 - 2027 term. From a girl who was once rejected because of her disability, Ms. Nha rose to become a "leader" of action and inspiration, to help and support the disabled. Currently, Ms. Nha is the Head of the Disabled Youth Club of Hai Phong city.

Practical support, spreading love

Not only does she act as an organizer, Ms. Nha has also initiated many practical models and activities to support people with disabilities in integrating into life. Since 2014, she has built a model of "Introducing jobs for young people with disabilities" in Hai Duong province and neighboring localities. With her initiative and understanding of real needs, she has sought out many businesses to learn, connect, and persuade them to accept people with disabilities into work. Thanks to her perseverance, more than 250 young people with disabilities have been introduced and given stable jobs. Ms. Nha has helped them to no longer feel pressured or burdened financially, and more importantly, to be more confident in life.

Having just been introduced by Ms. Nha to a job at a foreign-invested company in VSIP Hai Phong Industrial Park with a stable income, Mr. Nguyen Van Truong, a disabled person in Bach Dang Ward, happily said: "I have applied for jobs in many places but failed. Now that I have been introduced to a suitable job, close to home, I am very happy. My life will be less difficult, and I can participate in many activities, I find life more meaningful."

Recently, Ms. Nha has also directly mobilized to build charity houses, give gifts to poor households, support blind people, autistic children, install prosthetic limbs for people with disabilities... Especially, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the image of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nha with a green volunteer shirt, even with only one arm, still volunteering to be on duty at the epidemic checkpoint, supporting necessities for the disadvantaged has moved many people. When the whole society is distancing to prevent the pandemic, she is ready to go to "hot spots", knock on every door to check, give gifts, and encourage difficult cases.

In addition, she is always interested in the content and legal regulations for people with disabilities. She actively participates in seminars and training courses at the central and local levels, and organizes many skill training classes, career counseling, and dissemination of laws for people with disabilities. Because the law is an important tool for the disadvantaged, so that they know how to protect themselves and rise up legitimately.

With such persistent contributions, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nha has been awarded by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province (formerly), the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and many organizations. Notably, in 2021 and 2025, she was honored in the program "Shining Vietnamese Willpower", recognizing her journey of overcoming difficulties and spreading positive inspiration in the community.
