Mr. Mai Van Thong, Hamlet 4, Con Se Village, Quang Loc Commune (Ba Don Town, Quang Binh Province) is collecting red pheasant eggs. The model of raising a specialty product originating from rare wild animals, the red pheasant, helps his family earn extra income.

Previously, Mai Van Thong and his wife only lived on his meager teacher's salary, and their family life was not stable.

After a period of consulting and learning about the experience of raising red pheasants and finding out where to sell pheasant breeds, Mr. Thong boldly borrowed 50 million VND from the entrusted loan source of the Social Policy Bank of Ba Don town (Quang Binh province) through the Ba Don Town Youth Union.

Mr. Mai Van Thong used the borrowed money to buy 20 pheasants from Hanoi to raise.

At first, Mai Van Thong's family encountered many difficulties in taking care of this rare bird because they did not fully understand its habits.

Not giving up, Mr. Mai Van Tgoong researched and learned about red pheasant farming techniques and experience through books and newspapers.

Mr. Thong also often visits models of raising this rare bird species of families that have successfully done so in many places.

Up to now, Mr. Mai Van Thong's red pheasant farm has expanded to more than 60 pheasants, bringing high economic efficiency.

Talking to us, Mr. Thong shared: Pheasants are wild animals with special habits and only lay eggs seasonally for 4 months.

Mr. Mai Van Thong's family mainly raises red pheasants for eggs and red pheasants for commercial meat .

Red pheasant eggs and commercial red pheasants are provided by Mr. Mai Van Thong to restaurants and people in need throughout Ba Don town (Quang Binh province).

During the breeding season of red pheasants, Mr. Mai Van Thong collects about 20 pheasant eggs every day. After deducting expenses, he earns more than 50 million VND in profit each year from raising pheasants.

Mr. Thong also said that the pheasant farming model is a model with practical efficiency. He hopes that in the coming time, all levels and sectors of Ba Don town will pay attention and support production capital so that this model can be replicated.
