Perched precariously in the middle of the pristine Ha Giang mountains and forests, the white cliffs are an ideal destination for adventurous travelers.
The White Cliff is located on Ma Pi Leng Pass, between Pai Lung and Pa Vi communes, Meo Vac district, Ha Giang province. Known as the cliff of death, this place is an ideal place for those who love adventure and exploration because of its steepness and danger. Photo: NVCC
Knowing that Ha Giang is one of the places with majestic nature, and having a love for tourism , Mr. Tran Van Son (27 years old, Hanoi) spent a whole week exploring this place, especially conquering the legendary white cliff. Photo: NVCC
Mr. Son said he started from the Youth Volunteer Monument on Ma Pi Leng Pass to the white cliff, about 5km away. However, only the first 3km is concrete road, the rest is a winding stone road, winding up and down the mountainside, just wide enough for one person to walk, from here is the beginning of the famous white cliff. “I walked about 2-3km along the mountainside with stone pavement and steps. It was quite slippery in the rainy season, but there were railings to hold on to. You can go all the way along the mountainside and there will be a small path leading down to Happiness Road, or return to the starting point,” Son shared. Photo: NVCC
160km from Ha Giang city center, the white cliff is an ideal space for tourists who want to immerse themselves in the nature of the mountains and forests, enjoying the fresh, quiet air. Photo: NVCC
“The White Cliffs are a place that few people know about. The clouds drift slowly, the winding roads follow the mountainside, not noisy, rushed, crowded like in the city. It feels wonderful,” Mr. Son shared. Photo: NVCC
Here, visitors will enjoy the feeling of 4 no: no electricity, no water, no Wi-Fi, no people. Standing on the white cliff, you can see the whole scene of Hanh Phuc road, Ma Pi Leng pass, Nho Que river and Tu San alley. In addition, the small houses on the mountainside also make the scenery more poetic. Photo: NVCC
According to Mr. Son, in addition to the white cliffs, Ha Giang has many other famous tourist attractions that visitors can refer to such as Lung Cu flagpole, Vi Xuyen martyrs cemetery, Tham Ma slope, King Meo palace... Each place has its own beauty that enhances the cultural identity of tourism in the Northwest region. Photo: Website of the General Department of Tourism
However, these famous places can be crowded and do not have the absolute peace and wildness of the white cliffs. Photo: Website of the Propaganda Department of Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee
Tourists should prepare carefully from health to necessary items for a smooth trip. “Health is the most important thing when traveling on steep and constantly changing terrain, or walking long distances like white cliffs,” Mr. Son shared. Photo: NVCC
Visitors should check the weather forecast in advance, prepare clothes and medicine in case of emergency. Especially for this location, visitors need to consult the terrain of the area and the way back from the locals, and bring extra water and snacks because the walking distance consumes a lot of energy. Note, do not litter, do not carve names or write on the cliffs. Photo: NVCC
“The trips, whether short or long, will make me love life and my country more. Talking to strangers and listening to each other’s stories will give me new things, inspiration and good energy for life,” Mr. Son affirmed. Photo: NVCC
