"Uncle soldier, we love you so much..."

Amidst the children's song "Uncle soldier, we love you so much...", officers and soldiers of Regiment 95 (Division 2, Military Region 5) put their backpacks on their shoulders and continued their journey to help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters and build a new life after the floods.

Many days after the flood receded, life in the eastern part of Dak Lak province gradually returned to normal. Schools, markets, and medical facilities have reopened, but in many villages of Tuy An Dong commune such as Phu Hoi, Ha Yen, Binh Thanh, and Diem Dien, the chaotic scene after the flood still prevails. Electricity is unstable, water is scarce, and phone signals are unstable.

Comrade Tran Van Bien, Chairman of Tuy An Dong Commune People's Committee shared: "In recent years, Tuy An Dong has suffered from natural disasters, but the recent prolonged heavy rain was a historic flood, causing the most severe damage. The whole commune had 11 deaths, more than 10,000 houses were flooded, many educational , medical, cultural, irrigation and traffic works were seriously damaged; the total estimated damage was more than 1,096 billion VND".

Officers and soldiers of Regiment 95 (Division 2) help people in flooded areas of Tuy An Dong commune overcome consequences and stabilize their lives.

''Faced with that situation, we immediately implemented the "4 on-site" policy, mobilizing all local forces and people to participate in supporting, initially overcoming the damage, providing emergency relief and ensuring safety for people. However, the scale of damage was too large, beyond the capacity of the locality. We hope to continue to receive support from the province, departments, branches, armed forces and benefactors in terms of human resources, materials, necessities, medicine, housing repair costs, production restoration, as well as support for students and schools that suffered heavy damage. In particular, we request that banks have policies to postpone debt, reduce interest rates, and provide new loans to help people stabilize their lives soon,'' said comrade Tran Van Bien.

In the face of these difficulties, officers and soldiers of Regiment 95 (Division 2) still persisted in their area, and only left when the people's lives stabilized. Working groups spread out to each road and hamlet, diligently cleaning up public works, unclogging sewers, and collecting garbage.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Xuan Duy, Deputy Chief of Staff of Regiment 95, more than 100 officers and soldiers have marched to Tuy An Dong commune. Up to this point, the unit has cleared 10 primary schools, 3 kindergartens, 1 medical station, 1 martyrs' monument and more than 10km of inter-village roads. To ensure work efficiency, every evening, the unit holds meetings to review the results of each direction, thoroughly grasp safety and remind soldiers to maintain strict military-civilian relations, and promptly encourage them to work with peace of mind.

Road DH31 from National Highway 1A leading to the Commune People's Committee is still eroded, many houses only have exposed roofs. Wiping away tears, Mrs. Pham Thi Kim Phung (54 years old) said: "The water rose so fast last time, I only had time to run to the hill behind to take temporary shelter. Some of my children are working far away, some of their houses were also flooded. Now that I see the soldiers return, I am so happy that I cry."

In the same situation, Mr. Pham Thien Thu (47 years old) sadly looked at the pile of sour and damp rice: "The rice is all wet, I have to dry it to avoid rotting, but I can't eat it, and no one will buy it. During the recent flood, I used a homemade canoe to run around the village and saved a few people. Now that the army is back, I am so happy! Such a difficult task, without the army, no one would be able to do it."

Officers and soldiers of Regiment 95 "wash" books and school supplies of students.

The atmosphere on the inter-village roads this morning was completely different: laughter and bustling greetings. The soldiers worked tirelessly; the people cleaned their houses, brought water, and shared cakes and noodles with the soldiers - beautiful images of military-civilian love. Corporal Khin, a Gia Rai ethnic, said while pulling broken branches: "It's tiring, but it's fun. The people love the soldiers and share everything with us. Therefore, no matter how hard it is, we try to overcome it with the people."

Mr. Ngo Manh Tinh (born in 1994), a former soldier of Regiment 1, Division 2, also enthusiastically contributed: "Seeing the soldiers return, I feel like I was more than ten years ago, also fighting in difficult places. Now the soldiers are helping our villagers, I am very touched. What we give will be received back."

The soldier's heart for students in flood-affected areas

The flood swept away books and pens of many students. Understanding the loss, during their rare lunch breaks, soldiers of Regiment 95 contributed their small allowance to buy books, notebooks, and pens to give to the children.

At the Tuy An Dong Commune Military Command, the atmosphere was bustling, with soldiers of Division 2 and the commune militia wrapping candy, arranging notebooks and pens. The gifts, though simple, contained the soldiers' heartfelt feelings for the children. Corporal Nguyen Gia Huy, from Song Hinh ( Dak Lak ), shared: "My house was also flooded, and all the children's books were swept away, so I understand their situation very well. I am very happy to be able to contribute something to help them go back to school."

Officers and soldiers of Regiment 95, Division 2 and the commune militia visited and gave gifts to children.

The square gifts were brought to the children's homes. Seeing the soldiers, Tran Huyen Tram (class 1A5, Le Duan Secondary School) shouted with joy: The soldiers are here! Opening each muddy page of her notebook, everyone felt sorry. Tram's older brother, Tran Ngoc Thien (class 9) politely said: "Our books and notebooks are all wet. Thank you, soldiers, for giving us new notebooks. We promise to be good and study well." The children's father smiled gently and saw the soldiers to the door: "When my children grow up, I will let them join the army too!"

From public works to every roof, every handful of gifts sent to children, the image of the 2nd Division soldiers devotedly helping the people has become a warm support in the most difficult times. Once again, the loyal and steadfast love between the army and the people shines brightly, not through grand promises, but through simple, practical actions from the hearts of the soldiers.
