PC Lai Chau is performing the task of managing and operating over 440km of 110kV lines; 4 110kV transformer stations, over 4,100km of medium and low voltage lines, nearly 1,400 distribution transformer stations with a total capacity of 135,169 kVA, supplying electricity to nearly 118,000 customers in the whole province. It is forecasted that people's electricity demand will increase during the hot season. To proactively plan power supply, from the beginning of the year, PC Lai Chau has planned, implemented and synchronously implemented solutions to ensure power supply; reviewed and compiled a list of important electricity customers to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval. On that basis, the Company has developed and implemented a power supply plan for 2025.
Mr. Quach Van Bien - Deputy Director of PC Lai Chau said: Right from the beginning of the year, the Company has directed its subordinate units to conduct a general inspection and review of the power grid system. In particular, maintaining frequency, ensuring quality with periodic day/night inspections, increasing the use of PD measuring devices, thermal cameras, lightning protection leakage measuring devices, Flycam... to check to detect early risks of incidents, thoroughly and promptly handle grid defects. Early completion of the plan to clean live insulation with high pressure water; perform phase balancing, load sharing, and rotation to prevent overloading of transformers. Perform phase balancing, load sharing, replacement, and rotation of transformers; increase wire cross-section, upgrade switching equipment... to avoid overloading when the load increases; proactively prepare materials, equipment, and backup means to ensure handling of incidents as soon as possible.
Along with that, the unit focuses on urging, accelerating the progress and completing the plan for anti-overload projects in 2025, major repair items, regular repair items and putting them into operation, operating effectively after investment. Thereby, ensuring safe operation of the power grid during the hot season. Strengthening monitoring, calculating the load status of each line and station, establishing optimal operating methods. Coordinating with small hydropower plants to shift peak generation hours to reduce the load on 110kV lines.
Lai Chau PC staff checked the operation of the city's 110kV transformer station using thermal cameras and telemetry equipment.
We came to Muong Te Power Company in mid-June when the staff and workers of the unit were checking the backup equipment, ensuring the power supply during the hot season in the area. Talking to us, Mr. Pham Chien Thang - Director of Muong Te Power Company shared: The unit is assigned to manage and operate over 430km of medium voltage lines, over 210km of low voltage lines, 168 distribution substations to supply electricity in Muong Te district. The task of ensuring the safety of the power grid to serve the needs of the people is always identified as the top priority task.
Accordingly, implementing the direction of Lai Chau PC, the unit has strengthened the inspection and review of the entire power grid system under management and operation, in order to detect and correct defects to improve the reliability of power supply. Regularly carry out phase measurement and phase balancing, load sharing, separation, and timely increase of transformer station capacity to improve voltage quality, avoiding full load and overload situations causing power outages. Proactively gather spare equipment and materials such as transformers, AC wires, copper terminals of all kinds and insulators... At the same time, propagate customers to use electricity economically and effectively, turn off unnecessary electrical equipment, and limit the use of high-power consuming equipment during peak hours.
The task of providing stable power supply during the hot season has been proactively implemented by the departments and professional offices of PC Lai Chau. Mr. Tran Minh Duc - Head of the Control Department affirmed: The Department has proactively performed well the work of operating the power grid during the hot season. Establishing an optimal operation method for the power grid system and proactively coordinating with affiliated units to deploy plans to ensure power supply. Focusing on effectively operating the Remote Control Center, promptly detecting incidents for the fastest operation and handling. Through the application software from the center, all information on monitoring and managing operations at 110kV stations as well as being able to manipulate and control equipment on the power grid; helping to operate flexibly, improving the reliability of power supply.
With the spirit of always being ready for all situations, complicated weather developments, proactively providing electricity to serve the people, PC Lai Chau has fully prepared materials, equipment, and backup means to increase the initiative in handling incidents on the grid. Synchronously deploying optimal operation plans, determined to complete the task of ensuring safe, stable, continuous electricity supply, effectively meeting the increasing electricity demand of customers, especially in the hot season this year.
