Enhance passenger service facilities
Due to the long holiday, the number of people from provinces and cities to Gia Lai has increased. Up to now, most of the passenger buses from Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang to Gia Lai have been "sold out". In this situation, transport companies have proactively developed plans to increase their vehicles to meet the travel demand during the peak period.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai - Director of Hong Hai Transport Company Limited, Chairman of Gia Lai Automobile Transport Association - said: On the occasion of April 30 and May 1, there is no surcharge for the outbound trip. Therefore, businesses only increase 20-30% of vehicles to increase the frequency of return trips to serve passengers from Ho Chi Minh City. In Gia Lai, Hong Hai bus company operates 3 trips/day as planned and adds 3 more return trips, bringing the total number of return trips to 6 trips/day.
“On April 29, despite applying a 40% surcharge for the route from Ho Chi Minh City to Gia Lai and increasing the number of buses by 80%, most bus companies in Gia Lai were still “sold out”. Therefore, passengers were forced to register to postpone their trips to April 28 or 30 to get tickets. Tickets from Gia Lai to Ho Chi Minh City on May 3 and 4 were also sold out, with only tickets left for May 5 and 6,” Mr. Hai informed.
Mr. Tran Van Uong - Director of Duc Dat Thanh Gia Lai One Member Co., Ltd. (Duc Dat Bus Company) said: The company currently has 36 vehicles in provinces and cities across the country. On normal days, the unit operates 12 Gia Lai-Ho Chi Minh City trips, 6 Gia Lai- Da Nang trips and vice versa. During the April 30 holiday, the company added 5 more vehicles to serve passengers returning from Ho Chi Minh City, while the Gia Lai-Da Nang route still maintains its operating frequency.
“This year, the number of passengers on the Gia Lai-Ho Chi Minh City route is quite stable. On April 29 alone, there will be 5 additional buses carrying passengers from Gia Lai to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. On the Gia Lai-Ho Chi Minh City route, the number of passengers is expected to be high on May 4, so the company plans to add 5 more buses to serve the people,” said Mr. Uong.
Regarding this issue, Mr. Huynh Trong Khiem - Director of Duc Long Gia Lai Bus Station - said: During this year's holiday, the number of passengers is expected to increase on the Gia Lai - Ho Chi Minh City, Gia Lai - Da Nang routes and vice versa. On normal days, the bus companies at Duc Long Gia Lai Bus Station operate about 120 trips/day, transporting more than 1,300 passengers to provinces and cities. Of which, the Gia Lai - Ho Chi Minh City route has 38 trips/day and the Gia Lai - Da Nang route fluctuates from 14 to 17 trips/day.
It is expected that on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, the Gia Lai-Ho Chi Minh City route will increase to about 70-76 trips/day, and the Gia Lai-Da Nang route will increase to about 20-25 trips/day.
“To meet the travel needs of people and prepare for the case of a sudden increase in the number of passengers, Duc Long Gia Lai Bus Station has proactively developed a plan to increase the number of vehicles, and at the same time, prepare a plan to clear passengers in case of a sudden increase at the bus station. On the other hand, we also assign staff and security guards to take turns on duty 24/7 at the bus station to maintain security and order, ensuring the safety of vehicles entering and leaving the station,” said Mr. Khiem.
Meanwhile, the leader of Pleiku Airport said: Up to now, airlines operating flights at Pleiku Airport have not announced plans to increase flight frequency. Therefore, Pleiku Airport still maintains 6 flights to and from each day as usual. Specifically, each day, Vietnam Airlines operates 2 flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa; Vietjet Air operates 4 flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa. According to the representative of Vietnam Airlines Pleiku Ticket Office, it is expected that on May 3, there will be 1 more round-trip flight from Pleiku to Ho Chi Minh City.
Strengthening the work of ensuring traffic order and safety
Along with ensuring the means of transport to serve the travel needs of the people, the functional sectors also synchronously deploy measures to ensure order and traffic safety on the roads, especially at "hot spots", crowded areas and gateways to Pleiku City. The provincial police have planned to deploy a peak period of attacking and suppressing crime, ensuring security, order and traffic safety on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
Accordingly, the provincial police leaders requested professional units and local police to proactively grasp the situation, synchronously deploy professional measures, and promote the role of grassroots forces in handling incidents related to security and order.
Along with that, the provincial police leaders also set tasks for units to ensure progress and efficiency, striving to achieve and exceed a number of targets such as: not allowing particularly serious crimes such as murder and robbery to occur; the overall crime solving rate reaches over 80%, of which very serious and particularly serious cases reach 95% or more; reducing traffic accidents in all 3 criteria.
At the same time, the authorities will focus on reducing criminal offenses, limiting damage caused by traffic accidents, ensuring fire safety and absolute protection of key targets, political, cultural and social events taking place during the holiday.
In particular, with the topic of handling violations of alcohol and drug concentrations, the Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police) conducts regular and continuous patrols and controls, focusing on holidays on traffic routes, strictly following the principle of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions".
“The Department has directed transport units to arrange enough drivers and strictly comply with working hours, especially for long routes and vehicles running at night. Absolutely do not use drivers who are sleep deprived, tired or not in good health. Transport units must closely monitor vehicles through journey monitoring devices and camera systems to promptly handle violations.”
Mr. Tran Dinh Son - Deputy Director of Department of Construction
Lieutenant Colonel Luong Thi Thu Quynh, Head of the Traffic Police Department, said: The Traffic Police force will mobilize 100% of its personnel to ensure order and traffic safety during the holiday; all officers and soldiers will not take leave during this time.
The Department has also established specialized teams, closely coordinating with the police of communes, wards and towns to increase patrols, control traffic order and safety, support people to travel smoothly during the holidays, focusing on areas with high traffic density and signs of complicated traffic safety.
Patrol teams focus on handling violations that are the direct cause of traffic accidents, limiting illegal racing, traffic jams and other complicated situations, and effectively combating crimes on traffic routes.
In addition, the Traffic Police Department also organizes patrols, controls, and handles violations of alcohol and drug concentrations. “We have developed a plan to regularly inspect patrol teams to encourage and enhance the sense of responsibility of officers and soldiers in performing their duties. Thereby, promptly detecting shortcomings and limitations to ensure that people have a safe and joyful holiday in the common atmosphere of the whole country” - Lieutenant Colonel Luong Thi Thu Quynh emphasized.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Tran Dinh Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction - informed: The Department requires passenger transport business units to develop specific service plans, mobilize maximum means and human resources; at the same time, prepare backup means to transport passengers when vehicles have incidents, breakdowns or are handled for violations.
All vehicles put into operation must be thoroughly inspected and maintained to ensure absolute safety for passengers. In addition, transport companies are required to fully post information on routes, trips, departure times and ticket prices, and to diversify ticket sales methods to facilitate people.
