President Vo Van Thuong visits Tuscany, Italy

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, within the framework of the State visit to the Republic of Italy, on the morning of July 28 (local time),President Vo Van Thuong visited the city of Florence, the capital of the Tuscany region, and had a working meeting with the President of the Tuscany region Eugenio Giani and Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella.

On behalf of the people of Tuscany and the city of Florence, President of the region Eugenio Giani and Mayor Dario Nardella warmly welcomed President Vo Van Thuong and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to their visit.

Expressing his delight at visiting Florence, considered the cradle of Renaissance art with many ancient architectural works and museums displaying masterpieces of European and world artists, President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the dynamic development of the Tuscany region and Florence city in the fields of art, heritage conservation and sustainable tourism. The President of Tuscany recalled the event when Florence Mayor Giorgio La Pira visited Vietnam and met President Ho Chi Minh in 1965 to express his support for the Vietnamese people's fight for independence.

The President of the Tuscany Region congratulated the success of the State visit to Italy by President Vo Van Thuong, saying that the visit demonstrated the friendship and solidarity between the two peoples and the confidence in the strong development of bilateral relations in the coming time. The President of the Tuscany Region expressed his admiration for the Vietnamese people's struggle for national liberation and reunification and was impressed by Vietnam's dynamism and development speed in recent years; congratulated Vietnam's increasingly enhanced position and role in the international arena. The President of the Tuscany Region expressed his wish to strengthen cooperation with Vinh Phuc Province and expand cooperation with other localities of Vietnam.

The Mayor of Florence highly appreciated President Vo Van Thuong's visit to Italy and the Tuscany region on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries; affirmed the desire to attract more Vietnamese students to the city to study and research, and at the same time promote cooperation with Vietnamese localities in education - training, cultural heritage preservation and energy. The Mayor of Florence also wished Florence to establish a sister city relationship with a Vietnamese city.

President Vo Van Thuong expressed his delight at the strong development of Vietnam-Italy relations over the past 50 years and affirmed that Vietnam focuses on promoting the strategic partnership with Italy in general and between the two countries' localities in particular; welcomed the Tuscany region establishing a cooperative relationship with Vinh Phuc province, an exemplary model of cooperation between localities and encouraged cities and localities of the two countries to coordinate in organizing cultural and people-to-people exchanges, expanding and strengthening cooperation in the strengths of the city and region such as tourism and industry.

At the end of the meeting with the President of Tuscany region, President Vo Van Thuong witnessed the leaders of Vinh Phuc province and Tuscany region sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, and witnessed the leaders of Vinh Phuc province award the Investment Certificate (project expansion) to Piaggio Group.

During his working visit to Florence, President Vo Van Thuong and his wife visited a number of the city's typical cultural establishments.
