Samsung's chairman has held meetings with leaders from Meta, Amazon and Qualcomm to enhance relationships and discuss future business models, especially in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
During his two-week trip to the United States, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong visited Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s home in Palo Alto, California. During the meeting, they talked about AI, virtual reality, and augmented reality. They also exchanged ideas on strengthening technology alliances in the AI, ICT, and software industries in the future. The meeting took place about four months after Mark Zuckerberg visited Seoul, South Korea, at Lee’s invitation.

Lee then met with Amazon CEO Andy Jassy to discuss deepening cooperation in AI and cloud computing. Last year, Amazon decided to bet on the AI industry and has since focused on creating cloud-based AI services. Amazon is a key chip partner of Samsung. The two sides want to expand their relationship beyond semiconductors to TVs, mobile devices and content.
Samsung Chairman also met with Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon to discuss next-generation chips for use in AI and telecommunications services. Qualcomm is known for providing Snapdragon mobile chips for Samsung's Galaxy line of phones. Samsung and Qualcomm executives also agreed to expand their cooperation to a higher level, including AI PCs and more mobile platforms.
In addition, Mr. Lee also shared his views on the future of the semiconductor industry while holding discussions with leaders from global chip foundries and chip enterprises.
"We need to leverage our strengths to pave the way for the future," Mr. Lee stressed at the end of his working trip.
Samsung said the results of Mr. Lee’s latest trip to the United States will help the company achieve a concrete vision. Samsung’s top management will also translate this vision into business action plans at an upcoming meeting at the end of the month, to overcome the lingering business challenges caused by the gloomy economy and geopolitical risk factors.
