On March 25, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam paid a courtesy visit to Australian Senate President Sue Lines at the Parliament building of this Oceanian country.
According to a VNA correspondent in Australia, at the reception, Senate President Sue Lines expressed her joy and appreciation for the two countries upgrading their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh 's official visit to Australia in early March 2024.
She also expressed her excitement at witnessing the strong and trusting development in the friendship and cooperation between Australia and Vietnam.
The President of the Australian Senate believes that the bilateral relationship will continue to develop comprehensively and deeply, including parliamentary diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges; and expects breakthroughs in economic , trade, science-technology cooperation, climate change response and energy transition between the two countries.
Senate President Sue Lines also expressed her delight at the official launch of a direct flight between Hanoi and Perth, the capital of her hometown of Western Australia.
She expressed her wish to soon officially visit Vietnam via this direct flight to further promote friendly cooperation between the two countries, as well as between Perth and localities of Vietnam.
On this occasion, Senate President Sue Lines congratulated Ambassador Pham Hung Tam on his new assignment in Australia and said she was ready to support the Ambassador in expanding bilateral cooperation during his term of office.
Ambassador Pham Hung Tam respectfully conveyed the regards of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to Senate President Sue Lines, expressing his joy at witnessing the good development in the cooperative relationship between the two countries' National Assemblies, especially the exchange of high-level visits.
The Ambassador also affirmed that he will strive to contribute to effectively implementing the results achieved during the visit to Australia by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue (from November 30 to December 3, 2022) and actively contribute to the development of the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, contributing to further deepening cooperation areas of mutual interest such as politics, economics, security, defense, education, tourism and people-to-people exchange./.
