VUFO President receives delegation of the Czech Republic House of Representatives

At the reception, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga affirmed that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic began over 70 years ago and has been preserved, nurtured and developed by the governments and people of the two countries based on deep understanding, respect and trust.

The President of VUFO expressed his gratitude for the valuable support and assistance that the Czech Government and people have given to Vietnam in the past struggle for national independence and reunification and in the current national construction and development; and highly appreciated the mutual assistance between the two countries in overcoming the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The VUFO President emphasized the need to promote people-to-people relations between the two countries, especially through the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic. She believes that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic (over 100,000 people) not only brings diverse cultural nuances, contributing to the socio -economic development of the host country, but also serves as a bridge to promote economic cooperation, cultural exchange, and tourism, contributing to the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Vice President of the Czech Republic’s Chamber of Deputies Jan Batosek expressed his delight at the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent years. He affirmed that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic is recognized by the Czech Government as one of the ethnic minorities. This is also a testament to the relationship and political trust between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

The Vice President of the Czech House of Representatives said that the Vietnam-Czech cooperative relationship is very comprehensive, in which people-to-people exchange is a very important field. Vietnamese citizens who have studied and worked in the Czech Republic are the bridge to promote people-to-people exchange in many fields, creating a premise for the two sides to elevate their relationship.

The Vice President of the Czech House of Representatives affirmed: “Vietnam is a beautiful country, rich in resources, with a long coastline and rich cuisine, which is very popular with the Czech people. Therefore, Vietnam's attraction to Czech citizens will be even greater.” The Vice President of the Czech House of Representatives expressed his hope that Vietnam will create conditions for short-term visa exemption policies for Czech citizens who want to travel to Vietnam to travel, study, work or exchange with Vietnam; consider opening more direct flights between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

In addition, Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Jan Batosek also shared his wish to establish a Czech Cultural Center in Hanoi this year. The center will have activities to teach Czech language, thereby enhancing connection and cooperation between the people of the two countries.

The Vice President of the Czech House of Representatives believes that there is still much potential and room to promote cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of defense industry, energy, and environmental protection.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern, affirming that Vietnam and the Czech Republic will continue to closely coordinate and support each other at international forums and organizations.
