Witnessing her mother having an accident but not knowing how to perform first aid, Phuong Dung (Tan Dinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) spent a lot of time looking for someone to help. After the incident, Dung realized that equipping herself with first aid knowledge is very necessary, especially when there are elderly people and young children in the family.
Young people proactively learn first aid skills
Participating in a first aid skills event recently held at Van Hanh Mall (Hoa Hung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), Dung "pocketed" many skills such as how to safely approach a scene, handle an unconscious person who is still breathing, handle bleeding, handle broken bones... In particular, in all situations, the handler must keep a calm mind.
Similarly, Ms. Minh Anh said she spent two days on the weekend learning first aid skills for people with strokes and traffic accidents.
"Only when the accident happened did I realize how inadequate I was. The tuition fee was only worth a few cups of milk tea, but the knowledge and skills I gained could last a lifetime. In my office, there were a few people who had strokes, they were only around 35 years old," Minh Anh shared.
Ms. Trang Jenna Nguyen, Deputy Director of SSVN Survival Skills Organization, said that recently there have been many tragic accidents, especially drowning in young children. If we know how to perform first aid properly, we can completely save the victim's life. We cannot predict what bad situations will happen in the future, but we can proactively equip ourselves with knowledge and skills to handle current situations.
Young people learn how to treat and bandage wounds for people with broken legs.
Young people listen attentively to instructions on first aid skills for unconscious people.
Psychologist, Dr. Dao Le Hoa An, believes that there should be a subject related to first aid and escape skills for students, applied to each level of education. In which, students are taught theory, practice and are tested systematically.
