Reporting at the conference, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Chuong My district Trinh Ba Thuong emphasized that in 2024, although the entire political system and people actively participated, extreme natural disasters caused severe damage, especially to economic and social infrastructure... One person died, one person was injured; 5,297 households with 23,747 people were flooded for many days; 32,939m2 of houses and ancillary works had their roofs blown off; 39 classrooms, 13 functional rooms of 27 schools were damaged; 2 medical facilities were flooded, 8 medical facilities were damaged; 13 cultural houses were partially damaged; 10 relic works were damaged...

In addition, the storm and flood also damaged 213 electric poles; 11,445 trees fell; 1,815 hectares of rice, 420 hectares of vegetables, 786 hectares of fruit trees and 31 hectares of forest were damaged; 1,070m of dikes were cracked and broken; 800m2 of embankments collapsed, 8,562m2 of canals collapsed; 15 pumping stations were partially damaged; 2,272m of riverbanks collapsed... Total property damage was estimated at 489 billion VND.
“With the attention of all levels and sectors and the solidarity and sharing of philanthropists, people in disaster-affected areas have been provided with enough necessities, supported to restore production, and gradually stabilized their lives…”, Mr. Trinh Ba Thuong affirmed.
At the conference, representatives of agencies and localities shared many experiences in preventing, responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters; proposed measures to minimize damage caused by natural disasters in 2025 and the following years.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Head of the Department of Irrigation and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment), Deputy Chief of Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of the city Pham Quang Dong stated that the weather and natural disasters in the coming months will be very complicated, extreme, unpredictable, with the potential for great damage. Therefore, Chuong My district needs to urgently complete preparations, not be passive or surprised in responding to natural disaster situations; focus on thoroughly handling violations of the law on dikes and irrigation; raise awareness, skills in preventing, responding to, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters for people...
