Program 1719 helps people escape poverty step by step

According to the People's Committee of Nam Dong district, Program 1719 has fundamentally changed the awareness of cadres and people in the district, the rural landscape has improved a lot, the social infrastructure system has been invested quite synchronously, basically meeting the production and living requirements of the people.

Hundreds of poor households were supported with housing, many households were supported with land for production and job conversion, and distributed domestic water was provided... people's lives were increasingly improved.

Many effective production models have been deployed and replicated, and people have actively responded to the policy of building new rural areas associated with sustainable poverty reduction and economic development in ethnic minority areas. Movements to help people reduce poverty have become widespread mass movements in the entire district with the participation of the entire political system from the district to the grassroots level.

After 2 years of implementing Program 1719, the poverty rate in the district has decreased. In 2022, the total number of poor households in the district was 380, accounting for 5.3%, and by the end of 2023, there were 190 poor households, accounting for 2.62%.

Average income per capita reached 49 million VND/person/year; of which, ethnic minorities reached 44.5 million VND/person/year. Security and politics had positive changes, people's lives were stable, national defense - security and social order and safety were maintained; programs and projects were implemented on schedule.

At the meeting, representatives of the Supervisory Delegation acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of Project 1, Program 1719 that Nam Dong district has implemented in recent times.

In addition, the Supervisory Delegation requested local authorities to coordinate and negotiate between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations at the same level to effectively implement the supervision of Project 1 under Program 1719, avoiding overlap and duplication.

Organizing supervision and criticism activities to ensure objectivity, publicity, and transparency; supervision content must be focused, key, and targeted to the right subjects, without affecting the operations of the agencies and organizations subject to supervision.
