OCOP 2023 program in Ha Tinh focuses on deeply processed products

In the first phase of 2023, Ha Tinh has 41 products recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards, most of which are products processed from agricultural products.

Currently, the whole province has 12 localities organizing the first OCOP assessment and classification (except Hong Linh town) with 48 products included in the assessment and 41 products recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards.

Through general assessment, many OCOP subjects recently chose to produce in the direction of processing, deep processing instead of selling agricultural products and raw materials. This result is following the roadmap and orientation of the Ha Tinh OCOP program.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Hoan (Nghen town, Can Loc district) boldly invested more than 3.5 billion VND to purchase technology and equipment for distilling alcohol.

Can Loc district is one of the largest glutinous rice growing areas in Ha Tinh and the locality is also associated with the famous "Can Loc wine" brand. With the bold idea of ​​bringing the Can Loc wine brand to the world , standing shoulder to shoulder with major brands of other countries, Mr. Nguyen Thien Hoan (Nghen town, Can Loc district) boldly invested more than 3.5 billion VND to purchase technology and equipment for distilling wine (excluding other costs).

Mr. Hoan shared: "To realize that dream, I established Can Loc Whisky Joint Stock Company. The product called Can Loc Love Wine is a new type of wine, selected from local rice, yeast, and water, produced according to traditional Vietnamese wine-making methods. At the same time, we use a copper distillation tower to create quality products that meet international standards. This makes the biggest difference for the brand but still ensures the pure Vietnamese value in each product. When testing the product, users are surprised because the produced sticky rice wine is more delicious and fragrant without leaving a feeling of nausea or discomfort.

OCOP product Tinh Can Loc Wine has international standards but is selected from local rice, yeast and water sources, so it still ensures pure Vietnamese values.

In May 2023, Can Loc Love Wine product was assessed, evaluated and recognized by Can Loc District People's Committee to meet 3-star OCOP standards. Up to now, with deep processing of glutinous rice grains, the enterprise produces an average of about 150 liters of wine per day, the product is widely consumed in the national market. At the same time, it contributes to the consumption of a large amount of rice of local farmers.

In Ha Tinh city, from simple lotus flowers and tea leaves, through processing stages, Hao Thanh Lotus Cooperative has upgraded them into high-class lotus tea products, bearing the mark of Ha Tinh homeland.

Mr. Tran Tien Si - Director of Hao Thanh Lotus Cooperative said that the goal of the Cooperative is to process lotus products to enhance the value and brand of local key agricultural products. After many trials and choosing suitable production methods, we are proud to have created the product "Hao Thanh Lotus Tea" - a high-quality product line with a unique, rich and sharp flavor. In June 2022, Hao Thanh Lotus Tea was recognized by the People's Committee of Ha Tinh City as meeting 3-star OCOP standards. The Cooperative is continuing to research to produce more processed and deeply processed products from lotus plants and aim for higher OCOP standards in the future.

Mr. Le Xuan Tung - Head of OCOP Department, Provincial New Rural Area Coordination Office said that in 2023, OCOP entities have effectively exploited local resources, created livelihoods, contributed to rural economic development and increased income. It is worth noting that the OCOP program in this period prioritizes deeply processed products. In fact, fresh and raw products that meet OCOP standards are mainly aimed at promoting production processes, building designs and brands. The impact of the OCOP program on raw products is also not high, so facilities prioritize focusing on more deeply processed products.

Since being recognized as a 3-star OCOP, Hao Thanh Lotus Tea products have expanded their market and increased their revenue.

Through monitoring in localities, most of the products registered for OCOP assessment and classification in the second phase of 2023 are also processed products. The Provincial New Rural Area Coordination Office is directing localities to select a number of good products, prioritizing products with local characteristics (villages and communes), large volume, organized production in a community and collective manner; especially creative start-up ideas to focus on supporting the development into OCOP products. In particular, arouse creativity among the people to continue developing new products, processed products, and deep processing. Support a number of potential products to build, develop and upgrade into 4-star and 5-star OCOP products.

At the same time, deploy the application of digital technology in management, operation, production, product traceability and e-commerce in program implementation.
