From a disabled girl, Vo Cham Anh (21 years old), in Coc Leu ward ( Lao Cai city) has overcome adversity thanks to her determination and family support to become the owner of a special cake shop called "The Wordless Cake Shop".

One warm afternoon in March, we were at “The Wordless Bakery” to listen to Mrs. Do Thi Mo tell the story of her daughter, Cham Anh, the owner of this special bakery. Since birth, Cham Anh’s health was very weak because she had to stay in a glass cage for a long time. The incident happened to Cham Anh when she had a high fever at 18 months old. “I still remember very clearly, when I called her and she didn’t come back, I was extremely worried and took her to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor concluded that Cham Anh was severely deaf and the only way was to wear headphones. However, because she was too young, Cham Anh refused to wear headphones so the disease got worse and worse, and from not being able to hear, Cham Anh could no longer speak...” - Mrs. Mo recalled.

Although she cannot speak or hear, Cham Anh has a strong passion for painting. Seeing that her daughter loves to draw, Cham Anh's mother found a class for disabled children to learn to read and draw so that she could attend. Talking about the opportunity that brought Cham Anh to the cake making profession, Mrs. Mo confided: Initially, Cham Anh's dream was to become a painter. But she advised her daughter to think and choose a cake making profession that was suitable for her, because making cakes also requires an aesthetic eye and skillful hands. And, Cham Anh can still continue her passion for drawing. The important thing is that making cakes will help her have a daily income, support herself, even when her parents get old and cannot be by her side...

So Cham Anh decided to go to Hanoi to learn how to make cakes. After 3 months of hard work, with the enthusiastic support of her mother, Cham Anh understood and mastered the process and techniques of making cakes. "I really like making cakes. Now, making cakes is my passion and also a job that will help me support myself. I am very happy and joyful when people support me, order cakes and praise the cakes as delicious. That is the motivation for me to continue learning and improving each of my cake products" - Vo Cham Anh often shares and asks her mother to spread the message to everyone on her personal Facebook like that.
At first, many relatives, friends, and customers came to the bakery to support and encourage the owner, but later on, people "fell in love" with the taste of the cakes here. Thanks to that, every day Cham Anh has customers coming to order cakes. Ms. Nguyen Thu Huyen, a customer who comes to the bakery, shared: I often order birthday cakes for my whole family here, because the cakes have a soft sponge, are not too sweet, and the price is reasonable.

True to its name “The Wordless Bakery” – everything here is quiet and gentle. Perhaps, this is also a special cake shop in Lao Cai city, because it is made from the passion, perseverance and skillful hands of a disabled person. Cham Anh also expressed his desire to teach baking for free to other disabled people, so that they can work and earn money to take care of their own lives.
“Giving birth to a normal child is already very difficult, for disabled people like Cham Anh it is even more difficult. But seeing my child grow up every day, become confident, and do useful work for themselves and the community, I am so happy that I cannot tell you...” - Mrs. Do Thi Mo concluded her story with us in the precious “Wordless Bakery”.
